I don't think he is. In the same way I thought Frankie Muniz might have been initially, due to his 'geeky' look and, funnily enough they have a lot of similar physical characteristics - quite pronounced eyebags physically ageing them, and sad haircuts. SM does have a great personality and TV talent thought, regardless of which bus he's on.

That was 30 years ago when gay people (especially celebrities) generally stayed in the closet. Also, is Elton John actually gay? If so, maybe he didn’t realise he was at the time? A lot of people are confused about their sexuality when they are younger.

These days, we have loads of gay celebrities. No one stays in the closet, because no one cares. A gay celebrity would have no reason to go out with members the opposite sex. Certainly not someone like Stephen who is not that big of a celebrity.
