For her sake, I'm glad Susan came 2nd.....

.... if she came first I had a funny feeling she would have ended up like Michelle McManus from Pop Idol a few years ago i.e. loved by the public at first and then suddenly loathed in a short space of time.

Coming second takes the spotlight away from Susan slightly yet still provides her the oppotunity to build upon her success either here or America.

Well done Susan (and Diversity).

Yes, it's the ebst thing for her judging by the amount of boos she got last night and this when Piers mentioned her name. I feel sorry for her - all she did is go up and sing a song, and 7 weeks later she's gone from heroine to public enemy. This way, she can disappear for a little while, let the dust settle and probably build up a career with some longevity.

She did look relieved. I feel happy for her because she didn't win.

I agree - The best possible result tonight. Pity the press and some of the public had to bully the poor woman into that state though. She hasn't really looked comfortable on the stage since her first audition. One of the things I loved about her audition was the smile she gave right in the middle of the song before the last bit. It's the only time I've seen Simon Cowell completely captivated by a performance.

It was the best outcome for all involved IMO.

It will be interesting to see how she copes with the inevitable album release though. I personally can't see her being able to manage a successful singing career, but stranger things have happened I guess.

I agree she was relieved on learning she was second... goodness knows what hounding by the press she would have got had she won!

I think she was very gracious in her defeat and I liked how she said Diversity were very entertaining to watch and the best act won.
