Hi,
I have had a new dish installed after some wind damage to the old one and everything checked out ok by the installer.
Last night I tried to record 2 programs at virtually the same times and the machine would not do it saying that I would have to cancel 1 of the recordings due to a conflict.
I have the "2 cable" set up from my dish so I should be able to record 2 programs at the same time,a visual check of the dish shows the 2 cables in place.
I am not very technically minded but I ran a diagnostic check via the menu, the results were...
tuner 1 10817,22000,5/6
tuner 2 10817,22000,5/6
both readings are identical, does this mean that both cables from the LNB are connected properly or is there another way I should be checking that both cables are connected properly.
This is the first problem I have had with the Humax since I bought it in December,up till now it has been recording 2 programs with no problems.
Thanks in advance.

the humax shows that there are two working tuners when actually only one is working, it just duplicates the information from one feed hence why the tuners in diaganostics always show the tuning at the same frequency.
Disconnect one feed from the back of the box and check you get a picture then move that feed to the other input and check again. Finally replace that feed with the other coax and repeat the above this will tell you if you have a faulty feed or a faulty tuner

always turn the box off before connecting and removing the coax cables

Right, well I've done all that,Gaseous, and after a couple of "no signal" messages, and plenty of lying on the floor whilst swopping over cables with my 11 stone Rottie licking me to death because he thought I was hurt,it now seems to have sorted itself out.Once again I am able to set 2 programs to record at the same time.
Maybe all the turning the box off and on done the trick or taking out and replacing the cables fixed it.
Anyway all is fine now,and thanks for your help.

Ah good stuff!! fingers crossed all is well and remains so GC

just had athought what channels are recording as they may be on the same transponder which is capable with only one tuner. try recording BBC Hd on 108 and BBC Ci on 951 then tuning to another channel and see whether you can pause live TV

Right, well you was right about the transponder, tried recording ITV3 and Channel 5,guess what,no joy,so it looks like I'm back to square 1
Everything was working fine yesterday, until I had the dish changed,so I'm thinking that the problem must lie in the installation in the dish area,as the box was working fine up till then.

If you have no problem with accessing the dish and LNB you could try disconnecting the feed at the dish end and checking the integrity of the f connector to coax connection. if you do similar to what I suggested in my first post but instead isolate and swap LNB ports you should be able to assertain whether it is a cable or LNB fault. Other than that get the guy who installed the new dish to come back and put things right

put the dog out this time

If he says he got two tuners showing two feeds in diagnostics point out to him that the issue I pointed out about this is a known issue on the foxsat
Thanks for your help,I'm learning all the time.
Your welcome

Gaseous,if he doesn't want to go,he doesn't want to go

I have gone through the tests again, both cables in LNB1 had a signal, both cables in LNB2 no signal,so does this mean that the box is faulty?
Sorry for all the questions,I'm sure you have better things to do on a lovely Sunday morning.

It sounds like tuner two is unresponsive. It could be possible that the installer did something that caused this, he may have done a factory reset and if one of his feeds were not working from the start the box may have defaulted to having just a single feed. Try doing a factory reset and seeing if this puts things right.
