"The cars will be with you in half an hour."

And then they all get up, they all get showered and dressed, they have breakfast, do their make up and hair and some even do the ironing.

Yeah... right

Why do they need to lie to us about something so silly? There's no way that they do all of that in half an hour... at the start of the series when they are all waiting on the shower to be free, they would be standing at the cars in their bloody bed hair and housecoats!

Already a topic and already been answered, they have never stated to the best of my knowledge that they all pile into the cars on their arrival and leave on their leave. The cars are just there ready in half an hour. They probably have another half an hour to an hour after that to get ready also, it's usually a lot lighter than it would be in winter at 6:30-7am when they get told their task.

Also you have to remember the guys don't need to do make up,

Lorraine clearly doesn't do her hair,

there are plenty of bathrooms in the penthouse,

and not everyone eats much of a breakfast, the most I have on a weekday is one slice of toast, if I'm in a rush, not buttered.

Yeah, I started the other thread!

Taking a reasonable guess, I think it's fair to say the candidates get up earlier than is shown and this gives them more time to wash, go to the loo, iron their clothes, do the crossword, mow the grass, take the dog for a walk....

Also, we don't know for sure if every new task is done with the housemates in the flat. They could be at their real homes and go to the Apprentice flat early in the morning and then go on to the location. It depends if they stay in the flat all the time or if they go home. If they don't do new tasks every day then there's no reason to stay in the flat. I dunno how it works but it's not like Big Brother where the people have to stay inside the BB house all the time.

Whether "they have never stated..." or not means nothing. It is clearly implied and deliberately misleading.

Where's the other thread? The search function on this forum is terrible.

Im sorry but anyone who thinks we are seeing what "realy" happens in the house is clearly very much mistaken.

It is obviously pre-planned who will answer the phone in the morning and they are purposley told to yawn and look bleary eyed as they stumble down the stairs to answer it.

Also, they are given as much time as they need to get ready in the morning, probaly 2 or 3 hours.............and remember that sometimes things will be re-done in multiple takes until they get it right, so sometimes the "spontanious" things we are seeing will have been said over and over again if the director thinks its good enough.

The most contrived thing of the whole show is when they are told to all sit round a table by the director to talk about who they think will get fired while the other 3 are in the boardroom with Sir Alan. Its SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fake and contrived it makes me want to scream !!

They showed a clip of him ironing which i noticed. I don't think it was that morning when he was ironing. I think they just show different clips of them doing getting-ready things to get the story across that they are getting ready, since all they do is probably get some breakfast and get their clothes on and brush their teeth. The having more than 30 minutes rumour sounds credible though.

I would love to know from a candidate all of the secrets and windings of how the show works. I know it doesn't take as many weeks to film as it does to show and nobody seems sure when the winner is picked and when thats filmed and if they film 2 versions or not.

I would also love to know how much of the boardroom set is real (e.g. if the wall at the side you don't see is actually there or if it's just cameramen and other crew, if once you walk out the double doors out of the waiting room or round the corner as the winning contestants do, whether the set continues or if it just stops. I know the bit of getting in the car is filmed before the series is.

I also noticed francis sitting doing some work at one point. What the hell was she doing i wonder?

They do film 2 versions:

"Sir Alan decides the winner on the basis of the final task and boardroom. He makes his decision on the day of the final boardroom. Because there is a gap between the shoot and transmission (to leave time for editing), there is a concern about keeping the secret of who has won during that time, so as not to spoil it for the viewers. In order to ensure that the secret is kept, two endings are filmed, and Sir Alan doesn’t reveal his decision of who he has chosen to the finalists and the production team until the day before transmission of the final programme."

I noticed a few weeks back that her notebook was quite clearly in shot and the page was filled with squiggles and doodles! That must be the easiest acting job that woman has ever had!

I had heard rumours about this before. It does make watching the end of it a bit weird though, because you know those aren't their real reactions, which is what you want to see. But Claire cried last year when she lost. She must've been acting then?

It's actually possible that they film the reactions when AS announces the final result and it's then spilced into the edit.

If anyone's bothered they and has access to the other series they could look for continuity clues: They could ensure they have the same clothes available and the same hairstlye but there should be tiny giveaways.

I don't think they go home. I seem to recall someone last year (Alex possibly) saying they only had one weekly phone call home - and there was the woman who got very tearful in one series because she missed her child (can't remember her name now).

And Lorraine still looks like she's just got out of bed and straight into her clothes!

The candidates are obviously given some kind of makeover for the boardroom scene however.

In some cases they also clearly know more than we are led to think before leaving the house ... ie this week they were told on the phone to pack an overnight bag but at that stage didn't know what the task was ... when they turned up in Peterborough however they all had their smartest TV presenting clothes with them ...

It was Jadine. Ifti left for similar reasons and that was only the second week of the process.

There's no doubt they all live in that house throughout.

On the US Apprentice, after they are fired, I read they are put into a sequester house until filming is over for when they bring some back for the final task. Not sure if they live together or separately. I would imagine it's necessary over there considering the distances involved, but over here, I think it's fairly certain they go home once fired, cab-interviewed &c.

Thats illogical though. Why send the cars around in 1/2 hour when it will be an hour and a 1/2 before they are ready?

There's an even earlier thread started by mimi dlc here.

My link is to a post of mine that says they get more than half an hour. They are generally sleep-deprived, so they aren't going to get up any earlier than they need to.

Reports from ex-candidates say that is is more like Big Brother. They don't go home between tasks and even their phone-calls home are restricted.
