Over the past few years there have been a number of UK female artists who have enjoyed huge success in the USA.
2006 was Corinne Bailey Rae' s year (1.8 million albums sold of her debut album in the US). 2007 was Amy Winehouse' s (2.2 albums sold in the US) and 2008 was Leona' s.. (Approx 1.5 mill albums and 5 mill singles sold in the US) So who will be the breakout star of 2009?

I believe Pixie Lott has huge potential. Not only has she got a great voice but she also has the looks, a personality that comes accross very well in interviews and also the backing of Interscope records who she has a deal with in the US. In addition to this she also has age on her side - being just 18 years old - we all know how the kids of America love the teen stars - Miley, Jonas Brothers and Taylor Swift to name a few.

So what do you all think? Do you think Pixie has what it takes to crack the states, if not who else do you think could follow in the footsteps of Leona and Amy?

For all of you that are un-familiar with Pixie check out her debut single "Mama Do" below and also her cover of "Use Somebody" by KoL below that... Enjoy

She has potential but I think Mama Do is really average and a poor choice of lead single. Good voice and look though. Her cover of Take That's Never Forget is amazing.

UK success beckons but the US will be a tougher nut to crack. However, I think she has the talent, the image and the probably songs to do it.

What do you mean in the last few years? People like Dusty Springfield and Annie Lennox were successful in the states before most of us were born. It's not a new thing unless you listen to the media hype.

Bentab never said it was a new thing. Regardless of who has been successful in the past, it doesn't negate this statement:

Am I the only one who thinks she looks like a younger version of Elisha Cuthbert?

To paraphrase 'Family Guy', 'America loves white, jailbait ass'.

She should do fine.
