Thanks to everyone who voted in Round Fourteen.

First up this time around, from Season Two we have The Krillitanes who were nominated by 61.90% of you.

The Season Four contingent is reduced to three as 52.38% of you voted for Miss Foster (Sarah Lancashire) who starred in recent BBC drama "All The Small Things" as did Annette Badland (Margaret Blaine) who was voted into third place by 42.86% of you.

She was actually in a tie-break situation with Cassandra, but exits the game in this round due to a greater number of culumative votes.

None of this round's evictees were predicted a Top Eight placing so there are no changes on the leaderboard this time around. But, with just two options left that weren't mentioned in the Prediction Game we'll have losses for somebody in every round from now on.

The Cybermen (various episodes)
Father's Day: The Reapers
Silence In The Library / Forest Of The Dead: Vashta Nerada {shadows / skeletons in spacesuits}
The Sound Of Drums / Last Of The Timelords: The Toclafane

It was going to be Miss Foster but since she's gone my vote goes to:
Cassandra (Zoe Wannamaker) (various episodes)

As for the Daleks, I think they should be brought back but not next series. I think there should be a break and when they do come back they should be a serious threat again.

How about it being half way through the series. The Doctor and companion are about to die and allow the Daleks to take over the world as the situation is so impossible. However, at the last minute they are saved by an unknown entity who they encounter in the final.

From round 13:
12) The Christmas Invasion: Sycorax Leader (Sean Gilder)

From last round:
05) Cassandra (Zoe Wannamaker) (various episodes)
16) The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit: Toby Zed (Will Thorp)

And so two new ones:
15) Army Of Ghosts / Doomsday: Black Dalek (various)
18) Human Nature / The Family Of Blood: Scarecrow Soldiers

Should the Daleks be brought back again?
NO! Not in the near future anyway, they've been used so much I don't find them threatening in any way now so I think they need a long break before being used again.

02) The Cybermen (various episodes)

05) Cassandra (Zoe Wannamaker) (various episodes)

10) The Christmas Invasion: Sycorax Leader (Sean Gilder)

20) The Sound Of Drums / Last Of The Timelords: The Toclafane

23) Silence In The Library / Forest Of The Dead: Vashta Nerada {shadows / skeletons in spacesuits}

I think the Daleks should come back in Series 6, but not en masse but just 2 or 3 of them in a base under seige type story. Similar to Dalek S1, possibly on a space station. Maybe 1st episode of seires not the final.

Hiya,
Just the one out for me this time, so my new one is:
05) Cassandra (Zoe Wannamaker) (various episodes)
Just because as a concept/baddie she is weaker than the others left for me - though I did think New Earth was a lovely fun episode The menace is not as evident as with so many others...

I agree with what others have said - of course the daleks should be back, just not yet. I mean Peter Davison had just one Dalek story in his 3 years, towards the end of his time in the role - I'm sure other doctors were similar, and as a result, they were more scary. Now I think they are like a recurring character that pops up so often they get a little cheer from kids as opposed to hiding from them Well, that's based on the experience of my son anyway... I think they should wait till series 6. But whether they will is a different matter...

I don't think I've lost any this time, but I'll check my list when I get home from work.

In the meantime, season 3 is looking the strongest which really backs up the replies to one of your questions RK when you asked which would have the most left as we neared the final.

Hmm regarding the Dalek question, I agree with what's been said already. We really need to give them break and when they do come back they should be used earlier on in the series not as a wham bam all sparkling lights dramatic howsyerfather finale.

I like the idea of having one or two with a base under siege as suggested by Wryip. And to elaborate on that, I think it would be good if they used the real story of the empty dalek found in a lake last year. That someone stumbles across it as it was reported and that the beginning of the story plays out much as it did in the papers. But then there are more, scattered over the country, or maybe in the same place. That they aren't dead, just dormant and they come alive once discovered to commit a quite chilling crime. Haven't got far enough yet to decide what, and I understand the poor thing would probably be electocuted, but if we could get past that, I find it quite exciting to find a story reflecting on something that really happened.

Cassandra (Zoe Wannamaker) (various episodes)
Father’s Day: The Reapers
The Christmas Invasion: Sycorax Leader (Sean Gilder)
Army Of Ghosts / Doomsday: Black Dalek (various)
Smith & Jones: The Judoon

As for this round's question, no more daleks please. Give them a well-earned rest and let them come back truly evil in at least 3 years' time. If they can't be brought back evil enough, let them RIP.

New:
Army Of Ghosts / Doomsday: Black Dalek
Cassandra (Zoe Wannamaker) (various episodes)

Old:
Smith & Jones: The Judoon
The Cybermen (various episodes)
and Dalek Caan

As for the question, I agree with most, give the Daleks at LEAST a year off. And I'd like them in a more confined setting next time, tunnels etc. I think they play well more in claustrophobic environments as they don't have to be CGI, and are therefore more threatening. I think "Dalek" worked well for this reason, amongst others.
It goes without saying that Dalek Caan should never be brought back under ANY circumstances!

Guess what? Same again please!

eta: oh no it's not, I did vote for the krillitaines I think!

eta: I did indeed...

Old votes:
The Ood (various episodes)
Smith & Jones: The Judoon
The Cybermen
Silence In The Library / Forest Of The Dead: Vashta Nerada

New Vote:

The Christmas Invasion: Sycorax Leader (Sean Gilder) - a tough choice, as I rather liked this character, but we are getting to the real good 'uns now, so it's time for him to go I think.

PS - Maragaret rules, so there!

I can't believe I missed another round! I am not doing too well at keeping up with this game. I blame the weather (and the builders who cut through our Virgin Media cable twice in the past week!)

Anyhow, here are my votes for this round.

Leftovers:

Cassandra (Zoe Wannamaker) (various episodes)

New:

The Christmas Invasion: Sycorax Leader (Sean Gilder)
The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit: Toby Zed (Will Thorp)
The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit: Satan
Smith & Jones: The Judoon

I will try to keep up better with this from now on, promise.

I din't answer the question, sorry about that.

Look, Doctor Who without the Dalek is like a scone without strawberry jam and cream.

Sometimes they will work better than others, but they are a key part of the shows success. They actually probably feature in no more STORIES now than they did in classic who, but of course it feels like they are used more because the stories in nu who are shorter.

Woohoo name in lights! And Margaret has gone! I'm shocked that she's lasted this long!
Anyway, auto plus:
02) The Cybermen (various episodes)
12) The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit: Satan
20) The Sound Of Drums / Last Of The Timelords: The Toclafane
Thanks RK!

As far as I'm concerned if we never seen the Daleks again it'd be too soon! I understand that they're iconic, but they're a bit rubbish really and completely overused! If they do have to come back, I agree with carefactornil, that they work best in confined spaces. They're much better when people can't get away from them (like in tunnels etc) than when they're flying around in their millions.

05) Cassandra (Zoe Wannamaker) (various episodes)

04) Dalek Caan (various episodes)

14) The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit: Toby Zed (Will Thorp)

New:
20) The Sound Of Drums / Last Of The Timelords: The Toclafane - they were forgettable next to the Master. If I met a Toclafane on the street I wouldn't have any idea who they were, that's how little an impression they made on me!

I think the Dalek should be given a good, long rest. The Cybermen are almost as bad. And I love both as villains!

It's a shame to see Margaret gone so soon. I thought she managed to be an excellent villain despite the obvious handicap of being a Slitheen. That she was voted out before the Sycorax leader and Dalek Caan amazes me.

My votes this round
From before:
04) Dalek Caan (various episodes)
10) The Christmas Invasion: Sycorax Leader (Sean Gilder)
18) Human Nature / The Family Of Blood: Scarecrow Soldiers

And two new ones:
05) Cassandra (Zoe Wannamaker) (various episodes)- the 'trampoline' thing was amusing at first, but she never came over as a proper threat.
08) Bad Wolf / The Parting Of The Ways: Emperor Dalek & Fleet- such a let down after the lone Dalek.

Speaking of Daleks, I agree with the general opinion that they should be given a rest. I do think they can be great enemies and should return in the future, but not for a long while. And when they do, let's not see them all wiped out definitely forever, since we know full well that means they'll be back soon. Leave it ambiguous- we know at least one will always survive anyway.

A claustrophobic setting does sound like a good idea. Daleks can time travel, so how about we find out the real events surrounding the 'retirement' of the Mir space station?

Not been around for several rounds and am very surprised that some of these are still in - and for that matter that none of my predictions have left yet

No idea what I voted for last and if any are still in so my new 5 are:

Father's Day: The Reapers
The Sound Of Drums / Last Of The Timelords: The Toclafane
The Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit: Toby Zed (Will Thorp)
The Cybermen (various episodes)
Army Of Ghosts / Doomsday: Black Dalek (various)

As for more Dalek episodes as a stand alone "monster" they are not my fav, I get that they are iconic. I generally prefer the episodes which they are not in.

Where they do provide interest is how the doctor relates to them. So if it was a new story that progressed the overall doctor story (though nothings coming to mind at the moment) I'd vote yes. If it's just to have the Daleks in another episode then no thanks.

Yey can actually get online when I can vote.

The Reapers
Sycorax Leader
The Cybermen - one of my favourite Who enemies, that's just been a bit lacking in NuWho.
The Toclafane
Vashta Nerada
Oceanic-815
03-06-2009
sycorax leader
toby zed
scarecrow soldiers
toclafane
black dalek
