Tom Baker's first series was fairly inconsistent compared to the two series of almost 100% quality (yes, I know, there's The Android Invasion, I said almost 100%).

The Ark In Space and Genesis of the Daleks are both excellent. The Sontaran Experiment is probably best described as an interesting oddity. Robot is a bit mediocre, really, and Revenge of the Cybermen is just awful, possibly Tom's worst story ever.

I loved this first series, but probably view this through rose tinted specs as I was four when it was first broadcast. I love the way all of the stories follow on from each other.
Harry and Sarah were great throughout. Also Tom Baker is still kept under the control of the Script Editors and Producers which wasn't the case in later seasons.

Robot - it probably looks a bit childish now and is a fairly typical Terrance Dicks script - but as a Regeneration story I think it works pretty well.

Ark in Space - This is true classic Who and Tom Baker is really starting to develop his character. A truly indomitable episode.

Sontaran Experiment - I think it's a reasonable story as a filler and the Sontaran is realised well in this. The Smash monster is a bit crap though.

Genesis of the Daleks - This is legendary Who. Very atmospheric - maybe drags slightly in episode 5. But overall an excellent cast - especially Davros and Nyder.

Revenge of the Cyberman - been quite a while since I've seen this and I don't remember it being as bad as everyone says. People complain about the look of the Cybermen in this - but as far as I can see they wear the same costumes as in the Invasion (which is supposedly a classic!). I do seem to remember only having about 4 cybermen in it though, so maybe this is the reason.

He had a very distinctive voice.

Michael Wisher also plays Magrik (vogon) in the Revenge of the Cybermen, the story after Genesis.
