OK, Sky HD sub about to end, so looking to move to Freesat HD PVR

Can you get extra remotes (are 2rd party better than the Humax HDR ones ?)

Also, can those remotes control a Sony and Pioneer amp for the volume like the Sky remotes ?

Is the SD quality that bad on the Humax ?

cheers all !

You can use a philips or logitech remote and both are better than the humax. The Humax can also control the TV, Audio and one other input as well.

The upscaler on the Humax is bad so set the putput to original and it will use the TVs upscaler.

Thanks.

The philips/logitech sounds pricey when I need a total of 4 remotes ? Which remotes are you referring to ?

Is the Humax that bad at about , what, £15 a pop ?

Understood on the output - so for HDMi just leave it as "original" or "auto" or whatever the option is ?

I got the Philips for under £40, it can do just about anything. It does my TV, DVD 5.1 surround, Humax, my comp 5.1 surround and my TV and DVD in the bedroom.

All with simple programing. They can do up to 8 different machines and have one touch controls that turn the TV, Humax and surround off or on. You only need 1 remote for everything in the house.

I think the humax is set to 1080i by default so it will need changing by you.

4 remotes?

Are you expecting the Sky magic eyes to work? as I don't believe they will.

You shouldn't have any bother getting other IR repeaters working though.

skylink !

I have a HDMI matrix system and full house Xantech IR control. What I dont need are all in one remotes, as I only have 2 sources to worry about around the house.

Do you have a Breitling watch?

The SD quality is equal with that of sky.

You've not explained why 4 remotes. For 4 different rooms or 2 remotes for 2 sources in 2 rooms?

They do with a TV link plus.

4 rooms, yes. And in 2 of those rooms, the remote controlled the amp volume (2 different amps).

Just want to be sure the extra remotes that I need (prob Humax extras as they are cheaper?) will control the amp volume

As far as I'm aware Humax haven't supplied separate remotes so you may find it difficult to source.

You certainly can, but they are not cheap.

Available from Humax Direct, and at least one Ebay seller (search Humax remote control)

I stand corrected, and will now go on the hunt to find out why I cannot obtain them!

Perhaps a Harmony 525 @ £38 is a better choice than an extra Humax remote

No, but they are cheap and nasty, not a very good remote control at all.
