The Last Guardian Was The ‘BBC Game’
Quote:
“Last Guardian. PS3. Finally,” said Darren Waters this morning. We’ve asked him whether that was the game he’d been hinting at for over a year and will confirm shortly, but we can assume quite safely that the implication is there, the name change is why he could avoid saying it was Project Trico.
http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2009/06/...-the-bbc-game/Over hyped or what? Sure the game looks great but I expected more with what this over excited journalist was hyping up. |

Team Ico games are the few that manage to effect games emotionally IMO. Looks absolutely stunning!

Hard to describe without playing the games. The last ones were sort of puzzle/platformers with the puzzle being the environment - where you go and how you get there. I think people tend to like them more for the art and atmosphere than the actual gameplay.

The visuals didn't blow me away.
I thought the young boy running looked like a PS2 cut scene. |

The game has FINALLY gone gold and is scheduled for release 6th December. Anyone looking forward to it or do you just not care anymore after all these years?

I liked both ICO & Shadow of the Colossus (Although never actually completed either) so am interested to get my hands on the TLG as it is essentially more of the same style of game.
TLG may not look 'Current-Gen' but I honestly couldn't care because for me these games are all about the gameplay, Story & overall atmosphere & If it nails those things like ICO & SOTC did then it will be just as good as they were. I think the only issue is going to be the hype thats built up as I don't think it will ever be able to meet them which I think is going to have an effect on what many are going to be expecting. And thats all on Sony & the developers for dragging this out as long as they have, but I'm fairly confident that those who enjoyed the old games, know what there getting & aren't getting dragged into the hype will enjoy it. |

I don't think any game has ever arrived with so much baggage and such a convoluted development history. I loved Ico and SOTC and I'm intrigued to see how it finally turns out after all these years but I also have doubts it can ever meet the expectations that have built up over the years. I've also got a feeling it will be a very brief game.

Hated ICO. Shadow of the Colossus was artistically brilliant and had some great moments but some of the basic gameplay elements were very poor. I suspect this to be much of the same.

Reviews are in & so far there mostly positive, Currently sitting at 83 on Metacritic:
http://www.metacritic.com/game/plays...critic-reviews I'm seeing some of what I was expecting in some of the lower scores, That been those that didn't play or didn't like the 1st 2 games not liking this either. Meanwhile those that did like those 2 games generally seem to also like this. |

I've read 4 reviews so far.
Eurogamer - Essential Gamespot - 9/10 Destructoid 8.5/10 & IGN - 7/10 So mostly positive, and it's a longer game than I thought too with reviews mentioning 12 or 13 hour play times. I'll be buying it anyway.

i dont go by reviews i will play it because im interested in it. i still find it odd that as an example IGN a massive website have one person review it and give it a score and people will buy or not buy based on one persons opinion. if you are into reviews metacritic is a collection of reviews and therefore offers a collection of opinions

Seems to be some major framerate issues with this game, particularly on the original PS4.
Really disappointing after such a long wait. |

Yeah that's not great is it? One of the reasons it switched from PS3 apparently was because the machine was struggling with it, so to see frame rate problems even on the PS4 is disappointing.

Yeah a lot of the time it is blink and you miss it stuff but dodgy frame rates are more noticeable and problematic.

basically in some sections according to digital foundry it runs as low as 26fps on normal ps4, 27fps at 4k on pro and 30fps on pro at 1080p. target frame rate is 30fps.
