Dodgy 2l Coke bottles?

The other week, I bought 2 2l Coke bottles from Sainsbury's. When we tried them, it tasted peculiar. I took them back, and got a refund.

Yesterday, I bought some more Coke from Tesco. This too tasted peculiar. This time I rang the Coke helpline, who are sending some packaging to post the bottle back to them.

I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed a problem. The bottles I bought had batch codes containing WA, indicating the Wakefield plant. The same day I returned the first two bottles, I bought some from Co-op with EM (Edmonton?) batch codes, which were fine.

Its funny you should say this.

I always buy Tescos own cola. We have always had it, and its always a clear brown like normal cola.

But over the last months its been cloudy and horrid looking. Almost like Bisto gravy. It tastes OK, but the look of it puts me off.

So i started buy proper coke or Pepsi.

Last week i decided to try Tesco cola again, and its still cloudy and not nice to look at. I worry there is something wrong with it.

Not at all like Coke - not musty or stale, I don't think, but as if it's got artificial sweeteners in. We tend to buy full fat as I personally don't like the taste of artificial sweeteners.

Anyway, a cardboard box came from Coca Cola this morning, so the offending bottle will be making it's way to Uxbridge soon.

This is like one of those House episodes - it'll probably turn out you have caterpillar eggs in your brain, making your taste buds mis-fire.

Mark my words!...

I have sent ones back to Coca Cola before now because they tasted off - if they're from the same place, it would seem there's a problem at source

Full fat? Surely you mean full sugar?

Yeah, I mean full sugar. Same thing in the end, really.

I sent the bottle back on Monday, and yesterday got £4 worth of vouchers as a gesture of goodwill. This is more than I paid for the 2 bottles, so I'm happy with that. The letter told me that they would send the bottle to the production plant for investigation.

I took the vouchers to Tesco, where I got 4 bottles (2 for £2.50, so added a pound) this time made in Edmonton. These taste fine.
