It's been clear from the start that Noirin is an intelligent and well educated person. The same is even more true in Halfwit's case, so when the pair of them start getting all existentialist, it's like 'whoa – chuck us a lifejacket, it's a bit deep out here!'
"All your life you're told one thing and you come in here and you're, like, damn it's not that easy," said Noirin pensively. "Do you think you're learning something Halfwit?"
"Oh, I'm learning a lot," he replied decisively.
"What do you think the main thing is that you've learned?" asked Noirin.
"Erm, I wonder how to summarise it…" said Halfwit dreamily.
In your own time Halfwit...
"I think…" he began before pausing, "one thing I've learned is that; yes, people are different. But I think much more than that, I'm seeing how similar everyone is."
"As personalities break down the real person emerges," he added.
"We're all only human at the end of the day," said Noirin in agreement.
"We're different in the things that make us exceptional," continued Halfwit, "but in our flaws we are very, very, very similar. It's so easy to judge people for their flaws, but at the same time our flaws are pretty universal to some extent."
"That's probably why we're here," agreed Noirin. "This whole experience is about teaching people in the outside world that people react in different social circumstances."
Yikes! Does anyone else feel out of their depth?
