Tom Jones is officially off the list. I was just thinking his skin looks like a piece of leather that has been tanned and then left out in the rain for a couple of months, but I've seen the clip and he was hot,

I think the only reason they don't look drop dead gorgeous is because they're old-ish now. Like you say though, in their early career, they were likely the fantasy of many a young woman.

The truth of the matter (which Simon Cowell evidently didn't realise for 40+ years) is that physical appearance and singing talent do not depend on each other. I know lots of attractive and unattractive talented singers.

I'd say if anything the talented singers are more likely to not be attractive - you can't see looks on a CD anyway, can you? I'd rather listen to a good voice anyway.
