According to his website, he's gone and busted his ankle... That must hurt like a b*tch... I wonder how he managed it?

Quote:
“Unfortunately, John has sustained an injury and is no longer able to attend the Torchsong convention in Chicago this weekend as he is not allowed to fly. Please see the statement below from John's manager:

It is with great regret that I have to announce that John Barrowman is not able to attend Torchsong Chicago. John sustained a very nasty injury to his left ankle yesterday. An MRI scan has confirmed that he has completely ruptured all the ligaments around his ankle. He cannot bear any weight on his foot and the doctor has said he is not medically fit to undertake long distance flights or his planned work. He must rest at home with his foot elevated for much of the time.

The plan is for John to do a video link with Torchsong. He is upset not to be able to come and enjoy the weekend with you all. He sends his love and best wishes to you all.

Gavin Barker.

We know this news will be a huge disappointment to those of you attending
Torchsong and John and his manager are in contact with Mary Lee Holzheimer on the matter. Please bear with us and watch the Torchsong site for further news from the convention organisers. We will announce any further information as soon as we have it.”

I've got 8 screws and a plate in my ankle holding it together.

I wonder if he had the MRI on the NHS or if he had private healthcover.

a) Why would that be a question uppermost in your mind?

b) Why would it matter if it was private and he had the money to pay for it?

That's a nasty injury. Six to nine months before he can even think of going faster than a slow walk.

Aw, that's sad. Saw him in concert only last week and my friend and I were saying how energetic he was, bouncing round the stage. Hope he can keep still long enough for it to heal!!!

Balls. That rules out 'La Cage' then if it takes that long to heal.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Injuries like this usually heal in about 6 weeks to 2.5 months (and by heal I mean get back to 100% - he'd be able to walk before that point).

It depends on each individual.

Thank God - the number of shows that would go off air if Mr Barrowman was incapacitated is immense! (Torchwood, Kids Are All Right, Tonight's The Night, Andrew Lloyd Webber's talent shows...) Of course, I'm only bothered about Torchwood.

No reason why he shouldn't do his presenting work from a seat - or even a wheelchair (as I seem to recall Matthew Kelly doing)

Oooo John would have fun with that I bet- he could get a Torchwood style wheelchair... or a bright pink sparkly one! haha! That would be hilarious! But on a serious note, i'd rather him walking, happy and healed to invalid in a wheelchair...

What??

He's "completely ruptured all the ligaments around his ankle" The physiotherapy alone is four months!
