Wireless TV signal in Listed Building
20 flats in one listed building block and “unsightly” wiring a problem. Could terrestrial digital TV be received via single aerial and retransmitted to each flat, perhaps even via an induction loop or similar?

Simple answer.
NO Slightly more complex answer. What you are sugesting is in effect a TV relay. That is if you are doing what is implied and receiving UHF TV signals and frequency shifting them and re-broadcasting on alternative UHF frequencies, albeit at low power. Such things exist fairly obviously. there are even relay stations that have been set up by a bunch of viewers rather than the main transmission supplier Arqiva (and yess there is no U ). These are known as self help relays. However to legally set one up you need a licence from Ofcom. If you were to try and go it alone without a licence then you face a heavy fine, confiscation of all your equipment and a criminal record to boot. |
