BBC Radio Cambridgeshire are covering all Peterborough United's matches. This is Edwin Overland's 30th year in the job, making him the second longest BBC Local Radio Commentator. Look East did a feature recently http://="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/...d/8202288.stm". This was filmed at the Derby game. Alongside him is Bob Burrows, who summarises most matches. Posh legend Tommy Robson also shares the role, but has not appeared yet.

Posh coverage on 95.7FM or 1026AM and DAB digital.

Cambridge United on 96.0 FM and DAB digital - commentator Mark Johnson and Steve Line.

Histon games on 96.0FM or 1026AM if Cambridge United or Peterborough United are not playing - commentator Dave Remnant. Otherwise it is case of reports during Cambridge United commentary.

Anyone know who has been commentating longer than he has then?

BTW, Welcome to the thread.

That would be Nigel Johnson of BBC Radio Stoke.

He's commentated on over 1,500 Stoke City games for the station and is celebrating his 40th year covering the Potters.

Incidentally, he is the father of occasional Match of the Day commentator Roger Johnson.

Also, is anyone on here familiar with the work of new commentators Mike Burrows and Joe Holt?”

A quick Google search tells me the following:

Mike Burrows (if it's the same one) spent last season commentating on MK Dons games for Horizon Radio.

In January, Horizon was rebranded Heart 103.3 by Global Radio. Much like SGR/Heart Ipswich, the station continued to cover Dons games until the end of last season but have discontinued their coverage this season, which I imagine made his job there untenable.

Also, an article on the West Bromwich Albion website lists him as "Beacon Radio's Mike Burrows" and says he will be providing commentary on all Baggies matches this season alongside Tony "Bomber" Brown.

However, in the article Bomber is pictured alongside Nathan Alleyne (who was Beacon's usual Albion commentator last season), and together they were Beacon's commentary team on Saturday's Baggies game at Nottingham Forest.

All I can find out about Joe Holt comes from an article published in March in the Birmingham Mail.

In this article the Mail's Birmingham City correspondent Colin Tattum writes about how he co-commentated on a Blues v Watford FA Youth Cup match for the club's website alongside Joe.

He is listed as "BRMB's Joe Holt".

Judging from the above linked articles, it wouldn't surprise me if Mike, Joe and Nathan Alleyne will be working on matches throughout the Orion Media Midlands network and that there will not be uniform commentators covering each of the clubs who feature on the network.

It appears as if the main voice of the Orion coverage, Tom Ross, will be doing commentary on all stand-alone games taking place on days when none of the other four clubs in the area are playing. So it would make sense if the other commentators cover numerous clubs as well.

With Villa involved in Europe this week, we might have to wait for a couple of weeks to see who Orion's fifth commentator is as we haven't yet reached a round of matches when all five clubs are playing on the same day.

This is a fantastic response from round the country this weekend. I took my other half to Prague for a significant birthday so missed the coverage totally.

I shall be around for the London and South-East (I hope) matches this weekend but will be in the Midlands for meetings during the following weekend.

Hope you enjoyed your sojourn to Prague, Ian - as it happens I'm going away for a day or two myself (to nowhere quite that exotic I'm afraid!).

That means I might not be able to catch any of the BRMB, Beacon, Gold, Mercia or BBC WM coverage of the midweek football, and so won't be able to post details on here later in the week.

If anyone could listen out to Tuesday and Wednesday's coverage I'd appreciate it - although I should be back in town to hear how the Midland stations cover Aston Villa's trip to the Gerhard Hanappi Stadium to face Rapid Vienna on Thursday.

I'm particularly be interested to hear how the Orion Media stations cover the three (or four if they're still covering Walsall) game local programme tomorrow, given that there has been considerable changes to their coverage this season, and their commentary line-up is still taking shape.

According to tonight's Sports Bar, Tom Ross will present the networked part of their coverage from the DW Stadium and then do commentary on Wigan v Wolves with Robbie Dennison on Beacon 97.2, with Doncaster v Coventry commentary going out on Mercia and Posh v West Brom (presumably) airing on Gold 990.

So if someone could listen in and grab those details tomorrow night it would be ace.

Read my mind - the obvious question that ought to have been answered in the report.

So if Posh play the Potter's in the next few seasons there will be well over 70 years of broadcasting experience in the local radio boxes.

Whilst on the subject of long serving commentators. I bet their isn't a commentator out there who has had the pleasure of reporting on a team rising from Non League to Premier League like Paul Rowley has done following Wigan.

Paul Rowley has been following Wigan Athletic for first Radio City then BBC Radio Manchester (or GMR as it was) most seasons since they were in the non league back in the mid 1970s. He's just been mentioning on air that he reported on Wigan's first game in the football league 31 days ago tomorrow. Never been a commentator though - his main job is political reporter for BBC Stations in the North West.
