talkSPORT's 3pm Premier League commentary this Saturday will be Tottenham Hotspur v Birmingham City.

Some really interesting news about their commentary team. Paul Hawksbee, on today's returning Hawksbee & Jacobs, said that commentary will come from Ian Crocker alongside Stan Collymore.

A bit of a surprise this, given Nigel Pearson has done the first few games of the season as usual and Ian has just re-signed with Sky Sports - but as there is no live Saturday SPL game on TV, covering this game will presumably not clash with his Sky work.

I remember hearing Crocker doing a few commentaries on Gold in Birmingham during his spell at Setanta, so this will not be his first return to radio since leaving BRMB in the 1990s.

It'll be interesting to hear him on Matchday Live, although what with Sky due to be scheduling quite a few Saturday SPL games for live TV coverage, I have my doubt as to whether this will be a regular occurrence.

I heard Crocker do a game on either BRMB or Gold 1152 a couple of years ago and, even then, I was surprised to hear him back doing radio commentary given that he's been working for Sky, then Setanta and now back at Sky.

I won't be able to listen to him, but I reckon he'll do a good job.

Mark Regan presenting The Football Phone-In and WM Sport from Anfield

Premier League
Liverpool v Aston Villa - Mark Regan and Ron Atkinson

BRMB

Tom Ross hosting The Goal Zone from Anfield

Premier League
Liverpool v Aston Villa - Tom Ross and Ian Taylor

With Tom at Anfield, it was Mike Burrows (I think) presenting networked show The Sports Bar on Gold's West Midland stations.

Tough choice of where to listen tonight. I think Tayls is one of the best up-and-coming pundits around, but Big Ron is always a treat on WM. Needless to say, Five Live (with Greenie and Lawro on board) is a no-go zone tonight!

Well for me 5 Live is always a no-go zone unless their are no local choices available, which is becoming more rare with almost half the Premier League being from the North West (ish) area. I always have Radio over the tv commentary because you can't beat the local biase. Aldo telling us on Radio City tonight that "this referee always does his best to not give Liverpool anything" lol!

Pretty much the same for me, at least for the "big games" (ie the ones the ubiquitous Mr Green chooses to go to), I'll always go with talkSPORT or local radio ahead of our friends at Five Live. I only tune to 693AM when there is absolutely no available commentary alternative.

I just can't stand to listen to Green, particularly when he's paired with his pal Lawro, and the vast majority of Five Live's smug sports presenters annoy the hell out of me too. They're not very good at doing around the grounds or covering the lower leagues either.

Opted for WM and Big Ron so far, and he's on top form as usual. Without going into the rights and wrongs of why he left ITV - now ITV have dispensed with David Pleat, they could do a lot worse than to call upon Ron to return as one of their co-commentators. Surely he's apologised enough and enough water has passed under the bridge!

Tuesday 25th August - talkSPORT

Women's Euro 2009 Group C
England v Italy - Andy Clarke

From the bits of I've heard this afternoon (the 3.30pm sports news and during half time), I don't *think* Five Live have a reporter on this match. I stand to be corrected though.

I'm going out tonight, but should be able to listen in to the build-up to this evening's football on talkSPORT, BBC WM and BRMB/Beacon 97.2FM. All being well, I will post the details later in the evening.

I'm at work instead at being at the New Cardiff City stadium for Cardiff City V Bristol Rovers tomorrow, so could someone be a 'reserve' for getting the Radio Wales / Bristol/Somerset / Real Radio details please?

I'm going to be at Keepmoat stadium on Saturday as well for Doncaster Rovers V Cardiff City, so will be able to give BBC Sheffield details (and maybe Hallam FM / Trax FM if they do sports updates)
