WM Sport hosted by Daz Hale at Molineux (1-3.30pm) and Dan Wheeler at Goodison Park (3.30-6pm)

Premier League
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Burnley - Richard Wilford and Daz Hale (commentary)
Everton v Birmingham City - Rob Gurney and Dan Wheeler (commentary from the 26th minute onwards)

Premier League
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Burnley - Bill Hatton and Robbie Dennison (Beacon commentary)*
Everton v Birmingham City - Tom Ross and Jon McCarthy (Gold commentary)

*Tom anchored the pre-match and half-time chat on Beacon, but with him commentating on the Blues game Robbie Dennison hosted the post-match phone-in for half an hour before the Top 40. The chart show was the reason why the Blues commentary was on Gold rather than BRMB.

Not sure that this is necessarily the correct forum but I heard this morning that George Riley (the weekend Five Live Breakfast Show sports reporter and reporter and commentator for football and Rugby League) is moving on. Does anybody know where? He is an asset to BBC Radio in my opinion.

@nigelwebbuk thanks mate, will be on weekday mornings from the New Year working with Derbyshire and Gabby Logan. about 12 hours ago from web in reply to nigelwebbuk

Thanks 4-4-2. I am glad he is remaining with the BBC.

I shall disappear until after Christmas so I would be grateful if somebody could publish the details of, at least, BBC Radio and IRN reporters on Boxing Day.

Have a great Christmas and I hope it brings you what you want.

How long was left of the game when Graham Taylor got there? What did 5 Live do before that? Did they just have one commentator commentating by himself for 22 minutes or did both McNamara and Adderly interact together (e.g, one commentates and one provides an analysis?)

Good to see Murray and Brotherton used today by the way. Normally they only seem to get one PL game a weekend but I think they should generally be able to manage two. I'd much rather hear them than some of the more average commentators.

The other commentator acted as analyst during the 22 1/2 minute stint.

Just to add on this one - I think BBC National Radio is having something of a reshuffle of their newsreaders due to the presenting changes on Radio 2 and Five Live.

I'm not much of a Five Live listener, but I tuned into Vicky Derbyshire's show on Friday for news of the Europa League draw and caught an exchange between her and sports newsreader Matt Williams.

It was mentioned that it was Matt's final day on Five Live, and that he'd be following Simon Mayo over to Radio 2 (as I believe the current R2 drivetime sports newsreader, former TMS commentator Jonny Saunders, will be following Chris Evans to Breakfast), so George will be succeeding him in the new year.

I agree with your view on George Riley, Ian - he's excelled in whatever role I've heard him in, not just as a rugby league commentator but also as an anchorman on Sports Extra. Going back a few years, I enjoyed his stint as a stand-in presenter on talkSPORT.

IMO I think George would prove a much better presenter on Five Live Sport than many of the current incumbents if given the chance.

With the 26th falling on a Saturday this year, talkSPORT will have a Boxing Day commentary after all. It will be Sunderland v Everton at 3pm.

I don't *think* they'll be doing a commentary from the Bank Holiday Monday matchday (which is taking the place of the usual Saturday round of matches that goes alongside the Boxing Day fixtures most years) although according to 4-4-2's post in the talkSPORT Chat thread, on the 28th they'll be going with mostly the same schedule as they would on any given Saturday.

On the first Saturday of the New Year, they'll be no commentary due to the FA Cup Third Round, and instead they'll be an around the grounds version of Matchday Live. It has been mentioned a few times that Adrian Durham will be presenting/reporting from the Tottenham Hotspur v Peterborough United game at White Hart Lane.

Elsewhere, BBC WM will be doing Walsall and West Brom commentaries over the festive season.

Bristol Rovers v Walsall will be WM's 3pm commentary on Boxing Day while Huddersfield Town v West Brom will be amongst their FA Cup Third Round commentaries (I'm not sure which platform it will be on what with Villa and Blues also involved in 3pm kick-offs on January 2nd).

Finally, I would like to wish every contributor to (and reader of) the radio football/sports commentators and reporters threads a very merry Christmas. I hope you all have a superb New Year.
