I won't be able to put up the reporters/commentators for talkSPORT as I'm working and going out straight afterwards so won't have access to a computer until tomorrow. I'll put up the Sunday details as normal.

107.9 Pennine FM

Huddersfield Town verses Southampton
coverage including goal highlights: Matt Christie and Kieran

I've never heard of either of them. Matt Christie has a slight North East accent and is very excitable. If the Pulse got him to commentate on Huddersfield matches, or Pennine got Matt to do full commentary, I would listen to him. He's hopefully got a bright future. The duo are back with coverage on Tuesday on Pennine FM.

As chance would have it Col, I caught a bit of Sports Report tonight - their Football League reports section as it happens. These reporters were:

Championship
Ipswich Town v Leicester City - Mike Sewell
Nottingham Forest v West Bromwich Albion - Steve Wyeth (usually of BBC Manchester)
Swansea City v Middlesbrough - Gary Flintoff (usually of BBC Radio Merseyside)

League One
Exeter City v Norwich City - Steve May

League Two
Macclesfield Town v Notts County - Dave Woods

A few pedantic points on the talkSPORT details. It was Bobby Gould rather than Bob Bould(er?) at Stamford Bridge with Clarkey, but I'm sure you knew that was merely a typo on 4-4-2's part.

And it was Andrew McKenna, rather than anyone else from the commentary team 4-4-2 mentioned, who was primarily filing reports on the Twenty20 Cup Semi-Finals from those I heard.

BBC WM

Paul Franks presenting WM Soccer Saturday from Molineux

Premier League
Aston Villa v Wigan Athletic - Richard Wilford and Rob Gurney (DAB commentary)
Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Ham United - Mark Regan and Paul Franks (95.6FM commentary), with Jane France interviewing the fans

Championship
Nottingham Forest v West Bromwich Albion - Dan Wheeler

League One
Walsall v Southend United - Andrew Dawkins, with Mick Kearns providing pre-match, half-time and full-time analysis

John Platt at the Mailbox rounding up the half-time and full-time scores.

Mike Taylor didn't commentate or report but will be doing Birmingham City v Manchester United commentary tomorrow.

For housekeeping, I've listed the commentator first and co-commentator second.

BRMB/Beacon 97.2FM/Mercia FM/Gold 990AM

Tom Ross hosting The Goal Zone from Villa Park

The programme was networked between 2-3pm, before splitting the frequencies for the four individual commentaries from 3-5pm. They then linked up again for a phone-in between 5-6pm.

Premier League
Aston Villa v Wigan Athletic - Tom Ross and Pat Herd (BRMB commentary)
Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Ham United - Mike Burrows and Robbie Dennison (Gold 990AM commentary)

Championship
Barnsley v Coventry City - Joe Holt and Dave Bennett (Mercia FM commentary)
Nottingham Forest v West Bromwich Albion - Nathan Alleyne and Tony Brown (Beacon 97.2FM commentary)

So no Walsall updates (at least not from what I heard of the coverage), and no sign of long-time Wolves commentator Bill Hatton either.

I noticed Bill wasn't used on Beacon's coverage of Wolves' Championship clinching game last season, which I thought was unusual given the significance of that match, so with him not featuring today could it be that he's left their coverage team?

Also, is anyone on here familiar with the work of new commentators Mike Burrows and Joe Holt?

Update on Aston FM in Birmingham.
For the first time since they came on air, Aston FM were NOT doing Aston Villa commentary. There was some sort of music and sports show going on, but little coverage of Villa from the brief bit I heard.

DAB coverage at Bloomfield road was patchy, so all I could catch was Ian Chisnall forgetting to report on a blatent shirt pull by one of the Blackpool defenders just before their equaliser, Phil Cunliffe at the Keepmoat stadium, and Derek Quinn at Burton. As 96.5 The Wave isn't on DAB, I've no idea if there was anyone there for them.

Did DAB do commentary on Stoke v Burnley? I did assume on that one. It's a huge county reflected by station has 3 FM frequencies, 2 AM Frequencies and the DAB one so when they cover football they all split to effectively become two different stations.

Normally.....

Burnley, Blackburn and Accrington pair on 95.5FM, 1557AM & DAB

with

Preston, Blackpool and Morecambe pairing on 103.9FM, 104.5FM & 855AM.

Luckily Burnley & Blackburn are never at home together and neither are Preston & Blackpool so they can always offer away commentary.

DAB always seems to go with the Burnley or Blackburn games presumably because the 95.5FM frequency that serves them doesn't stretch across the huge county like the Preston & Blackpool 103.9FM frequency does.

I don't think Wave 96.5 has ever done Blackpool commentary.

Yes, the game via DAB was Stoke City V Burnley which I could barely hear due to Radio Lankyshire being really realy quiet via DAB.

Plus, unlike the Blackpool fans, We don't need a drummer to help us sing

Not even someone there as a reporter?

I think in the distant past the had a reporter but I don't think they have for a while. It's a sister station of Wish FM (Wigan), Tower FM (Bolton) and Imagine FM (Stockport) who all dumped commentaries on those respective teams about 3 seasons ago - even though all those teams get a crap service from the local BBC who always go with Man City.
