Quote:
“The mother of street dancing star George Sampson is wanted by police after she allegedly dumped 15 bags of her son's fan mail.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Lesley Sampson after she did not turn up at Warrington Magistrates' on May 27.

She is accused of fly-tipping under the Environmental Protection Act.”

if this is her thats just dumped the mail then how ungratefull can you be?

TBH he must get loads and it must get annoying "omg george u r so fit wil u mry me" or something.

How rude and ungrateful. Sure, the majority might be the same message over and over but I wouldn't be suprised if George had older fans, fans from other countries or else, proper loyal fans who are spending their time writing to him. Very rude.

Maybe, but I still think it's a bit disrespectful for him to just dump it all. Imagine how you'd feel if you wrote to him and then found out he hadn't even bothered opening it? Not really the best way to get fans anyway...

I am abosolutely insenced at this!

No wonder my 12 year old niece never got a reply grr. She sent him a letter dated 2nd June 08 stating she was a fan but the main point was asking him what inspired him into breakdance.

Total disregard for the people who voted him their winner.

Yeah, it is a bit rude, but then he is acting like a brat right now (probably just a phase) so it doesn't surprise me much.

Aidan wouldn't do this...

She'd be better asking Aidan, who doesn't seem anywhere near as brattish though there is time, and yes.

He doesn't care though does he. He's won BGT and he has his popularity and his money and that's probably all that matters to him.

It's rude though, and I'd probably just have some sort of mail-merge form letter thing to send out to people if it was a "stock" letter, but it doesn't take much effort to answer stuff.

I don't get this lad (and family). He's obviously talented, but every interview he's been quoted in he comes across as a complete prat.

Thought the BGT performance (guest appearance) was well done.

I thought Aidan's semi performance was better. Agreed with George though, it's gone to their heads big style. He's gone from a nice lad to a little brat in a few months.

I thought they both lived in London now? I'm sure George does, there was an article about it a month ago.

Charming.

I doubt he'd have won were it not for the "this will save my life, we're so poor etc" sob story. The viewers got him where he is today, they're the ones who enabled his family to get the prize money they apparently needed so badly and this is how they're repaid? How rude and ungrateful.

The whole thing really seems to have gone to his head - he wasn't even the most talented last year. When I watched I thought he's alright but not to the extent they're suggesting, yet when I watched Aidan this year I was

Ridiculous thing to take her to court for though.
She was probably overwhelmed with it all.
I'm sure most "stars" don't keep fan mail once it has been read.

Aidan certainly has the wow factor - as well as not being a little brat.

It's a slap in the face of the voting public to ignore your fans not that he will lose out for it. He has the money from it and that, presumably, is all he cares about. He needs slapping down a few pegs.

Well darling (at George's mum) this is why we have shredders and recycle bins

I already can't stand George - hearing stories like this doesn't make him any more likeable.
I understand why people can't write back to all of their fan mail, but to throw it away before reading it is very disrespectful.

The story isn't about him, or what he did to fanmail.

I assumed that he'd know about what was happening to it. Sorry if he didn't.

When I read the story first of all it said fly-tipping, so I assumed it meant she chucked it in a hedge down a secluded lane, and therefore it would be perfectly reasonable to prosecute her.

But having read further down the story it says she put it outside her house in bags (assume black sacks?) which sounds like she put it out for the dustman, so how is that fly-tipping? Is there a limit on how many bags you can put out? We certainly don't have a limit on rubbish bags, but I have heard of other councils getting a strop on if the wheely bin is too full, which I thought was just a joke. Maybe not?

We have a recycling collection on alternate weeks but they will only take a small amount of shredded paper, so even if she shredded it as suggested by another poster, she still has to dispose of it.

I am a bit confused by the story to be honest. Leaving aside the question of whether George had read it or not, what is he supposed to do with it once he has read it? It would cost a fortune to reply to it all and would be a bit of a nightmare to store. Maybe Ringo (Peace and Love, Peace and Love) actually had the right idea!

Well, that's not the point, it's *unopened* fan mail so he obviously hasn't the chance... and he could burn it.

We have 2 bins collected alternate weeks and a box for glass, the recycle bin is just paper, card, plastic bottles, cans etc, it all goes in together so we can shred as much as we like, provided it isn't full - she might just have left it in the street and it was over her allowance so they left it and she left it out there which would be tipping.

Don't think the dumping is the issue here, per se, it's the lack of respect for the people who got him into the position he is in.

I wanted the lad to win last year but it seems to me the win as really gone to his head, hes just become an obnoxious little twerp now. George & his family should realise that if it wasn't for his "fans" he wouldn't of won BGT last year, what a way to pay back his appreciation to his fans!! lol Obviously no one expects him to read & answer every single letter but dumping the mail is so rude & disrespectful.

can't stand him either and i'm not suprised he'd be insensitive and just dump it.

surely his 15mins of fame should be coming to an end - his talent is average imo - there's loads of good dancers out there but just dont go on bgt - had there been he'd been blown out the water.

As far as I can see, nowhere in the article does it say that the mail was unopened. So how do you know, or do you just assume?

Burning that much paper is quite difficult, and may have brought the environmental department to their doorstep as well. Our council does not collect shredded paper, you have to take it to the tip. Seems that every council does their collections differently.

Btw. I'm not a George Sampson fan.

I dont agree with the fan mail getting dumped if it hadnt been read which I dont think anyone on this forum knows for sure, but you cannot expect the lad to reply to every letter he gets.
I know he's earning rather alot of money, but could you imagine how much its gonna cost and the time its gonna take to reply to god knows how many thousands( could be millions for all we know) of different people from around the world.

ALL big stars with lots of young fans do this. Do you think Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers sit at home and read EVERY single fan letter? Get real!

Just out of interest, where does it say the mail was unopened? As the mail was at her home address, where does the actual fly tipping come into it? Where does it say that George knew about this? How old were the letters? Were they an accumulation over a period of time? More to the point - were they supposed to keep every single letter for ever????

Oh, and FC - does every other star answer every single letter they receive?

I just love how people see a story, jump on it and twist it so that they attack someone they seem to clearly dislike. The fact that there may be no evidence to back up their comments doesn't matter.

Basically, the story seems to be that bags of letters were to be disposed of and it was done badly. That's it.

I would ask those that made the accusation of unopened mail to provide source for the "unopened" or admit they were wrong. I would also like those who used it to attack the lad to say oops, went a bit far there. I will not hold my breath however!

For the record - I thought he was OK , entertained me for a few minutes. Not given him much thought since then.

I'm sure this happens with alot of the young stars of today except you never often hear about it.

When you send a fan letter you feel like you should stand out and take presidence above anyone else. I've known people who have loved someone, sent them a fan letter, got no reply and have gone off them because of it.

Some of the big stars have a team of people working for them who acknowledge fanmail with a signed photo.
