There were also boos the evening before when Piers had said Susan was his favourite, when he was asked.
It was definitely a statement against Susan by a fraction of the audience. It doesn't matter though because, like Paul Potts who is a top star here in Germany, Susan's future probably lies more abroad than in Britain.”

Nonsense, the statement by Piers was completely over the top and simply dismissed two acts as unimportant even though they had not yet performed. In the same way Amanda got a reaction when she made the comment about Diversity owning Flawless. The audience had reacted badly for the right reasons, they were not booing the act, they were booing the judges. A big difference. I did feel sorry for SB standing there, not her fault that Piers is a plonker.

As to the night before, the reaction was very muted, virtual silence. However, that should have been an indicator to Piers that it was not a done deal.

But Amanda said that Stavros Flatley had been her favourites from day 1 and she really wanted them to win - everyone cheered. I don't see much difference to what Piers said - and they were not the last act on either, in fact they were even earlier on than Susan was. There has been a change in attitude towards Susan - you only have to read the newspaper articles and the forums to see that.

It's an awfully verbose way of stating the obvious... Namely that the Internet, just like life, is full of thoroughly unpleasant individuals who get off on spouting puerile bile about others in the name of “free speech”.

On one point raised; there is or should be a huge difference between those dreadful individuals who enter BB seeking fame for fames sake and the people who enter BGT because they genuinely believe that they have a TALENT.

Perhaps the comments should reflect that, but you really can't get away from the fact that IF you put yourself forward to appear on TV in any capacity - people will comment on looks and general demeanour. I'm not saying that is right, but it goes with the job so you either take it or leave it.

I agree but if these commentators could be identified they would not get away with the venom they spout, everyone enjoys a gossip which essentially is what these forums are for, but the anonymity of the internet allows some people to get away with the most vicious and hurtful comments.

Several times in the last few weeks I have started to type ripostes to some of the more horrible comments about Susan but soon realised that every positive comment would be deluged in an avalanche of negativity so I decided the best thing was to ignore the comments and hope that Susan was not reading the rubbish written about her.

I don't think we will agree on this - I still see it as what Peirs said that was the problem - to declare an act as the deserving winner while others have still to perform is very disrespectful and their families and friends would rightfully have been slighted. His attitude of you are the deserved winner rather than Amanda's I would like Stavros to win was very different.

As to the media and forums, it was to be expected. When an individual is portrayed as the greatest ever to sell papers there will be an automatic reaction from those with a different opinion. As for the media turning on her when readers started to get bored with the puff pieces, was anyone surprised?

At least Susan will make a few million from it, so it had one benefit.

I think they won in spite of the 'cute kid' rather than because of him. Their choreography was outstanding and they gave one of the few original performances in the final.

This is a standard behaviour of forums - they have been like this for years - littered with venom, spite, malice and hero worship which is completely over the top. To be honest, I have found this forum one of the milder ones. In my experience the BB forum can be much worse, the Jade Goody posts come to mind. The I'm a Celebrity one last year came a close second. Even the X Factor can go overboard.

The simple fact is that if they were full of reasoned and respectful discussion where both sides of an argument was always allowed for, they would be much less successful. It may be sad, but part of the reason people keep coming back is for the entertainment value of shock and horror of what people write. Sad reflection on society I suppose.

The only reality show I usually watch is X factor and I contribute to another forum when that is on, I only watched BGT because I heard about Susan so I was taken aback when I read some of the comments on here.

Just because it has always been done does not make it right and if more people expressed their repugnance it would become the exception, free speech does not mean you can assassinate people's characters with impunity, I disagree that reasoned debate is necessarily boring

The case for and against anonymity is a difficult one, but I think at the very least the admin of sites such as this should have easy access to the full name and address etc of all users - at the moment it's not that straightforward and abusers are all too aware of that.

As I say, I do feel very differently with regard to comments made about some attention seeker who puts themselves in the firing line on BB; where essentially the only thing to comment on is their personality and looks... as opposed to X Factor and BGT where the performances are supposed to be the primary focus for discussion.

Until the other night I hadn't really bothered posting in the BB forum as I stopped whatching the show when they started filling the house with caricatures...

On my recent rare excusion there I just got bored trying to rid the thread of tiresome oiks who clearly had no interest in contributing to it. Though I admit finding out we are moving house in the next few months hadn't exactly helped my mood that day

The final showed that it's more the media that like Susan rather than the public.
