This forum is in desperate need of some cocktail love.. SO lets hear them all guys. If you have a secret new recipe or just love for an old fashioned martini then get them up.

Ill start it off with the Hanky Panky. A classic London cocktail.

Ada Coleman became the second person to hold the post of Head Bartender at the Savoy in 1898. She later created the cocktail for English comedy actor Charles Hawtrey, who asked her for "something with a bit of punch in it". The first time he tasted the results of her hours of experimentation, he replied, "By jove! That's the real hanky panky!" And the name stuck!

Ingredients:
2 PARTS Beefeater London Dry Gin

2 PARTS Italian vermouth

2 DASH Fernet Branca

SHAKE All ingredients over ice

STRAIN Into a chilled cocktail glass

SQUEEZE A freshly cut orange peel on top

Absolutely glorious drink.. so lets hear some of your favourites.

You can never go wrong with a classic!!

I love a nice Mojito or a Margarita!!! My all time fave has to be a good old fashioned Cosmopolitan...

I go to a South Amercan bar that does a delish Planters Punch (light rum, dark rum with orange juice and grenidine) it tastes like drinking fruit juice but sure packs a punch.

The best cocktail I have ever, ever, ever tasted though is the Porn Star Martini.... I've only ever been to one place that serves it (it's their signature cocktail) and it's £8 a pop

The wont tell us the actual ingriedients - but I know it has Vanilla Vodka, passionfruit juice, vanilla pods and some other stuff in it - its served topped with half a passionfruit and a shot of champagne!!!

My God I could drink them morning, noon and night

I adore cocktails. In fact, i think i was born to drink cocktails.

I used to frequently go to cocktail bars when i worked in London. Now i live in work in rural suffolk - the best cocktail you can get is a gin and tonic !!!!!!!

I miss them.

I once went to the Ritz as a treat, and I tried every cocktail on the menu (there was about 16) and i loved it. I couldnt walk afterwards .... but they were good times

I got a cocktail set for Christmas and so far all I've attempted are Cosmopolitans but they've turned out well and my friends were impressed too!

I had one at a Christmas party last year which had creme de menthe, chocolate liqueur, cream liqueur, milk and chocolate chips. It was actually quite nice considering it was basically an alcoholic milkshake (I hate milk).

I used to work near Tower Bridge, and commuted from Liverpool Street Station - so i would go anywhere from work to the train station that sold cocktails.

Plus, i would travel a bit twice a month to other areas of London with mates to get my 'fix'.

I second the White Russian. That or a Bloody Mary as long as it's nice and hot.

Bloody Mary's are just the antidote for a hangover but not had one for years. I offered to make them for my sister and her husband on Boxing day a few years ago - and they turned their nose up at the offer

They are beautiful if done right, but sadly many places just give you watery tomato juice mixed with vodka. I make mine with tabasco, worcester sauce, salt and pepper and lemon juice. You can put more stuff in them, but that gives them a great kick.

Ahh..cocktails..love 'em. I usually go through the whole list on holiday. It's the only time I ever have them.

Once a hunky spanish waiter sauntered up to our table. I ordered a daquari. He looked perplexed so I pointed to the menu. Ah..a da-KEER-ee, he smiled.
Second hunky waiter was summoned later.
I'd like a da-KEER-ee please...more perplexion...so I pointed to the menu. Ah, yes a daquari, no problem ! OH was practically under the table laughing
Turned out said spanish waiters were from the Chec Republic

My daughter-in-law does a few bbqs during the summer so I had an ulterior motive when I gave her a little cocktail recipe book as a stocking filler at Christmas.
Wish she would hurry up and get cracking !!

Nice Tommy.. I agree, its either hit or miss. We have a slight deviation on the old fashioned bloody mary. It is the Red Snapper

Ingredients:
2 PARTS Beefeater Gin

4 PARTS tomato juice

1 PART Worcestershire Sauce Tabasco sauce, to tasting Generous pinch of ground black pepper Generous pinch of celery salt Creamed horseradish, to taste

METHOD Stir all ingredients in a jug until well mixed. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

This is a pretty special drink in my opinion for all you tomato juice cocktail lovers...

Garlic.. very adventurous... Personally another favourite of mine would be the Dry Martini.

3 PARTS Beefeater Gin

1 PART Dry Vermouth

2 DASH Orange bitters (optional)

METHOD Stir all ingredients with ice until very cold. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a lemon twist.

If i knew how to post a pic up i would!!
