God how awful. She's bad enough on You've been Fired, let alone listening to her moany goddamn awful glasgae twang for an hour

Is that the best they can do?

According to the Daily Mail today.

I thought it was bound to be her or possibly Karen Brady. I don't mind her (yet!) but, of course, I'd rather keep Margaret.

Who has the final decision on the replacement for Margaret? It is the production company, or Sir Alan?

I'm not in the least bit surprised.

I was saying yesterday how if Sugar went, she'd take his role.

I'm not a fan either.

Compared to Nick & Margaret, she is an intellectual lightweight. Out of her depth.

I'm obviously in the minority, cos I like her! There could never be another Margaret, so the best bet is to go for someone totally different. I'm always willing to let peoplel have a go, til they prove they're rubbish at something!!

Yes, I'm prepared to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Surely it should be someone inside Sir Alans empire? Ot at least a close associate in the industry? Cant stand that woman but she has clearly got a good PR team judging by the amount of times she is seem on tv

Out of her depth? Au contraire!! She runs a 50Million empire (Ultimo) and has won numerous awards for her entreprenureal skills, etc.

She is highly unlikely to take over from Margaret - as the series already has its own entrepreneur. He is called Siralun.

The observers role is NOT an entreprenureal one. Margaret, with her legal training and eye for detail, and training in recording and observing, was perfect for the role. Nick, with his background in PR is finely attuned as to what will work or not.

I would suggest that Margaret is intellectually heavyweight compared to 99% of the population of the UK. You have to be to be doing a PHD in Papyrology.

I really hope you're right. I think Margaret's skill was being in the background & being deeply understated. I can't see this gobby cow Mone being able to be so wallflower'ish.

Well her factory got 'broken into' and she was 'kidnapped' at a time when the business was in dire straits - i think the insurance helped get them back on their feet.
She was also sued by an ex-employee for sacking her when she announced she was prognent (I think) and they settled out of court (I think).

I'm going to go and look it up now

Here's some stuff from wiki -

Controversy
The company was launched in the traditional ship building district of Glasgow, Govan, bringing much needed jobs. But after returning from a trip to Los Angeles in 2003 to visit her then friend Rod Stewart,[11] the premises were moved after Mone was car-jacked,[12] assaulted and prototype samples were stolen from her BMW car in 2003.[13] Her mobile phone was taken, which included various telephone numbers of notable Scots including then First Minister Jack McConnell.[14]

So she was assaulted rather than kidnapped. But it was seen as very dodgy up here.

Agree. I'm sure she's just one in a long line of potentials that will be served up by the media before the actually new appt. is made. I'm still hoping for a complete unknown.

Yes, please do tell us more.... I live in Scotland and have never heard anything about her being dodgy.

As for the title of the thread, I'm puzzled at the use of the word "stupid". As someone else has pointed out, she has built up an immensely successful business with customers throughout the world. This she has truly done from scratch, coming from a working class background in the East End of Glasgow and leaving school at 15 with no formal qualifications.

Read the links above then

She isn't stupid but she is not a nice woman and has done some dodgy stuff.

I dont mind her, actually I quite like her, Although I would have thought this position would not suit her. They need an observer, someone who can report to Alan what they saw. As Alan says, they are his eyes and ears.

Considering how little screen time they get, I dont think its a vital role. True they have been bigged up on YBF program, in reality, they have very little screen time, and contribute very little to the program. I think this series, is the most I have heard from them.

Normally they speak in the task, Nick broker with this convention when it came to the perfume task. They utter the odd sentance in the boardroom. They may utter an odd sentance when the three are sent out, and Alan discusses who to fire. All in all they say about 2 - 4 sentances an episode.

I am not demeaning them, they do an excellent job, however to the viewer, the role is somewhat non-essential. You would hope the editor will show all things relevant to the task.

Not sure about the thread title, of calling her stupid....as she certainly isnt. OP have you created a £multi million business from scratch? If not why not, as even a 'stupid' person can do it.

No, I'm just a Tesco store manager with a weekly turnover of £650k & 250 + employees. That do

I chose "stupid" as a derogatory. I have no idea of her level of intelligence, neither am I interested. She is detestable.

No it wont. I am sure if Michelle was in your position she would consider herself a failure (in comparison to what she has achieved), Likewise if you were in her position, you would consider yourself a success (again in comparison to what you have achieved)

Maybe you should have used detestable instead of stupid in your title, especially as it was more accurate to convey your feelings.
