Release date: 27th July so it has to be screened before that date. There is even a synopsis. See below for Blu ray details.

I might just skip it on tv and watch it on bluray.

Or... Does anyone have any idea if downloading it from BBC HD on iplayer would be the same quality as watching it on bluray?

It's also probably worth saying (again) that the bluray is £17.59 on amazon and £23.99 on play.

I love those "Be the first to write a review" links on those sites. So tempted to write a mock one , mentioning that Tom Baker and Paul McGanns doctors turn up to foil the Raston Robots plans which are at the centre of these episodes

The price on Play has now gone down to £17.99 probably because Amazon has it at that price.

Both Amazon and Play are now showing the release date to be July 13th. BBCShop has the same date now as well.

It would be great if you (or someone else) could post their thoughts on the BD picture quality, as I remember seeing some negative comments regarding the variable PQ on S1.

Its clearly got some Good HD pictures but there is some 'speckling' or 'dotting' in darker scenes. I wondered if this was the TV so I changed the settings but its still there. In comparison to other blu-ray shows its poorer compared to LOST or HEROES on blu-ray. Maybe thats got something to be with the pictures being in 1080i and not 1080p.

For example LOST and HEROES (and most movies) have there pictures in full 1080p HD. The BBC blu-ray shows seem to be in 1080i which is poorer I think.

I use a PS3 for blu-ray which is set at 720p (as I don't have a 1080p TV). I wonder if I change the settings to 1080i (which all HD TVs have) if the picture for Torchwood would improve.
