Have the BBC screwed up again and not transmitted the start flag for South Pacific tonight?

Same here. Series link HD - no recording. Luckily we were in and watched it. Was recording Springwatch on 1, so didn't notice the non-recording.

Correction: The program did record, but for some unknown reason it was recorded outside of the series directory. The rest of the series is still in the directory and the schedule shows that I still have a series link set up.

Same here, not recorded on SL.

I was watching through my 9300T at the time, and wonder if I missed a clash message if Emmerdale & Eastenders (also recording)overran? I can't tell, as I've deleted them.

Eastenders overran on Freeview, but I don't know about Emmerdale, as I've deleted that too

Rgds.

Hi savvy I doubt yours was down to a possible overrun clash mine was set to record just the one programme. I was on the phone at T-15 and noted the box come out of stand-by but I didn't notice the lack of recording until just before making the first post.

Now it looks like I'm going to have to wait for the beeb to repeat the series just to have a complete collection to view. I'm not a happy bunny

That's exactly what I got.

Have you checked to the right to see if there's a lightening symbol next to the recording? Does it also say 0 mins in duration?

If the lightening symbol is there it means it failed for some reason. It might appear to be there but you won't be able to watch it.

Yes mine was a 0min "lightening" file outside of the SL folder.

Yours was a single instance recording, not SL?

Interesting, if that's so, we have instances both ways then :-

None SL - Graham's recorded, your's didn't.

SL - Blotch's recorded, others didn't.

If "clashes" doesn't explain it, I don't what does

The only repeat is a sign-zoned, non-HD version

Yes. On closer inspection that is what I've got and also the same for the ITV balloon adventure program from last Sunday. Both failed, no explanation.

Mine failed too, a series link recording. Springwatch and Silent Witness HD recorded fine.

Who do we report such failings to at the BBC?

Ah, yes, GC, I inferred the wrong thing from your "was set to record just the one programme"

So, from the reports here, it is only SL'd South Pacifics, apart from Blotch's, that failed.

I'm not sure we can lay this at the door of the BBC, yet, as Blotch has reported a successful SL recording.

@Blotch, could you just check, and confirm that you have a fully recorded file, not a 0min file? Thanks.

Rgds.

Thanks Graham, that confirms it didn't start early, and cause any clashes, although I see it did run 1 min over, which is interesting.

I was back viewing on the HDR at 21:00, and did see a brief clash message for 3 progs (Silent Witness, I'm Running Sainsburys, South Pacific), which went away, and thought no more about it.

That would indicate to me that South Pacific had been recording for 59/60 mins, but failed to write to disk for some reason. (Edit : Actually that's not necessarily true; if the HDR "thought" it was recording SP from the Timer/EPG entry, it could possibly still put up the Clash message)

Rgds.

I think it more likely that South P would record fully and the clash would have been to one of the programmes set to record at 21:00

Yes, that would be the normal behaviour, but both the subsequent progs recorded OK.

However, I'm now more inclined to go with my "edit". i.e. the clash message was spurious; the HDR thought it had a clash with the 3 progs from the EPG/Timer entries/AR overrun, but in actuality SP was not recording at all.

Rgds.

Hi Les, I've just checked the recording and its definately there (I watched the first few mins of recording). Just to clarify this was for the South Pacific HD transmission on 9 Jun. I have a Series Link recording setup and the HDR has recorded 5 episodes to-date (from 12 May). I have padding setup at 5 mins each end (not auto). Seems like I'm the only one that got a successful SL recording on the last episode!

Regards

Brian

Thanks Brian.

2 Things :-

1. You use padding instead of Accurate Recording. That may be different to others who use SL. Padding takes its start time from the EPG; AR takes its start from the broadcasters start/stop signals (which may not have happened),

2. 106 mins? It was only a 60 min prog. Even with 5+5 mins padding, that only makes 70 mins.

Rgds.
