Not worth his while to do 14 days' work for £400k? How much would I like to be in that position!

I bet Anton's got his eye on how this story develops- the prospect of a pay rise from £30k to £400k, in line with a massive cut in hours, is enough to make anyone smile

'Heavy workload'? For him it takes up two days a week at the most, probably one.

EDIT: See Katie has similar sentiments ^

I think it might be time to get a new presenter- replace Tess whilst they're at it- and redirect some of this massive fee to other areas of the show.

My vote still to Aled Jones- I think he'd be lovely at it, and he's experienced the show firsthand.

Big no to Vernon Kaye

Hahaha! I knew you'd have to bite on that SR!

Awww...C'mon! Imagine how unbearably smug I could be through the entire series Cam up there getting paid ten times as much for one days work instead of spending the whole week slaving her ass off for the comparitive pittance the pro's get...Heaven!

Ha ha!!!

Might be worth it just for that - think of all the fun I could have too, critiquing (??) it all - you'd just have to bite back

We rotate prime ministers, change jobs, have new champions, and holiday in different locations. Why be locked into one personality cult for hosting? Unlike the Generation Game, dance is bigger than Brucie.

Let good safe candidates be given a chance, with a new Strictly host every year -- if proven to be a gem then to be invited back. The ructions in SCD6 were terrible . A host cannot take credit for good outcomes and deny the rest.

That's a very profound statement soulmate61 Here's another...

Time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like a banana

My dear SR! Cam could at least do the few steps that Bruce and Tess do at the start of the show without looking like her legs were in plaster AND there is no way she could simper or drop a clanger as often as our Tess

Seriously though, I've watched Bruce on TV for longer than I care to say but I think the time to move on has now arrived...

no way it wouldn't be strictly without bruce & tess & no one would be able to handle the mark & karen mike situation like bruce!!!!!!!!! gethin or anton would be good but bruce is still the best!
also i think that bbc are trying to arrange for alesha to have some part in the show - don't know what though

I'd be happy with Gethin and Camilla hosting Strictly- or Bill Turnbull even if the Beeb want to go for an older male

I'm used to other forums where others post sensationalistic rubbish to get attention. I expected better here. The TV blog doesn't say that Bruce will quit, it says he will decide on whether he wants the lower rate of pay the BBC is offering presenters.
Bruce makes us cringe. He also makes us laugh. If you take away the gentle irreverence we are going to be left with a lot of desperate celebs all too seriously trying to revive their flagging careers. He presented well after he had warmed up a few weeks. I think Graham Norton may turn out just a little too silly but he seems the main alternative...

I think Gethin or Aled would be good. I actually think Graham Norton would be too! I reckon he'd enjoy being part of it and you'd be able to tell from his presenting.

Either way I dont reckon Brucie is going anywhere and I kinda hope he doesn't too.

It must be really hard for Brucie - I mean he has to be at the studio the whole day on a Saturday. Just imagine having to work for a WHOLE day for only £400,000!!!!

I hope he goes. Nothing against him as such, but he's had his day.

Wonder how long before we see a similar article about the judges and their pay?

To be fair Kay, he works one day but has to spend the preceding 6 days retrieving jokes from his 1940's locker.

I really feel it would not be the same without Bruce and I defo don’t want Anton like this article is saying, I do kind of agree with the pay cuts because of the times we are in, but then again i don’t think anyone is going to be as good as Brucie. It actually says in this article there is nothing to worry about and he makes the same joke every year .

TV presenters & News readers have been grossly over paid for years. Its about time their pay rated come down to realistic levels even more so when TV audiences are fragmented
