You don't put
Spoiler
The Daleks
in the first episode of a series because it's just bad story telling. How can you build on that to something more iconic? A series climax featuring
Spoiler
the Slitheen?

Save you know who for later in the series!

Re: Fails - it's another word for a mistake or blunder, I noticed that the Rangertalk message board (a forum for Power Rangers and Super Sentai) has a thread about fails, and it's mainly talking about continuity problems, omissions, bad season and character naming, unfaithful Japan to US adaptations, and plot holes.

I thought the Moff was on the record as saying he is very anti-classic and returning enemies being used/overused. Of course, it could be a massive bluff!

Yes, and RTD said similar things quite often when he was in charge of the show.

Yes. The original rumour stated he didn't want to use 'em, the bbc did want him to, they came to a compromise where they'd be in episodes 1 and 2 and not the series finale. Is it bollocks? Well maybe.

Well there were 28 episodes of Coupling and he managed to bring the Daleks in twice, so I can't imagine they won't be on a show they're actually suposed to appear on!

"Source" usually means that the paper in question made it up because it's a slow news day.

And the story appering in more then one place doesn't give the story anymore weight, the fact is that 90% of the news papers and tv channels are owned by the same corperations and therefore if one of the news papers reports the story in one of their news papers/tv channels its safe to say that they will report the same story in more of the news papers ect that they own. A good example of this is The Sun who is owned by news corperation so if this story is picked up by the sun its a safe bet that more assests owned by News corperation will report the same news and thats a lot of flaming assest, these guysown like 60% of the worlds media and so what they belive to be true gets reported as true in 100 different formats.

Stcoop is right, the fact is that 99% of the time the only way to know a story will be true is when there is an official press release or you see the episode.”

so 99% of official press releases and actually seeing the episode are true, so that means that 1% of official press releases and episodes that we see are in fact lies

No life whatsoever...

On the subject of the 60s TARDIS throwback for S5, Ian Levine seems pretty sure that one's actually true.

Remember when Levine claimed to have an inside source on the series and gave a detailed breakdown of what was going to happen in Series 3, none of which turned out to be correct?

Happy days.

He's not opposed to bringing back old Monsters as such but does think most of the Villians should be new.

RTD had always planned to bring back the iconic villians one (or two) a series (Autons/Daleks, Cybermen, The Master, Sontarans/Davros) and always used them as the Big Bad of the series

Moffat does not believe that is necessary anymore and says he will only bring back old villians if he can do something new with them (storywise or effects wise).

So while I'm sure we will see old Monsters back under Moffat we probably won't see them as much and may well get new Monsters for the series finale.

Doctor 2, the show is relaunching, new doctor, new companion, new logo, new everything - including the Tardis. Get used to it.

No i don't believe they will change it because the Tardis interior is a master piece and shouldn't be changed so quickly.

And i like it the way it is, it suits on how the Tardis (int) should look like.

To tell you the truth it took me a while to get used to it. The first Doctor Who episode I really watched was the TV movie although i'd always been aware of the classic series, and the TV Movie set was huuuuuge! Obviously they had a bigger budget for that set.

Now the New Who TARDIS set looked cramped grubby in comparison and it seemed to be like a ride in the TARDIS was very bumpy and not a smooth ride. To be fair though the TARDIS is an old ship. I remember when the 8th Doctor jumped started the ship by simply banging the console. Great stuff.

But it is very much RTD's choice: I can certainly see why Moffat wants a new design to mark the start of 'his' era.

Believe it or not, they are doing it, I think that's on record isn't it?

There's a few reasons for doing it, as someone said: New Doctor, New production team, new start.

I suspect though that the main reason is in fact the switch to filming DH in HD (HDDH: how palindromic!), the higher resolution means the old/current set would look awful in 1080p on a huge screen so needed to be completely rebuilt anyway.

Exactly - and even some design details have leaked, I think? Read somewhere that the new set is actually green-ish but will appear white on screen. It will also look a bit more high-tech.

I might be just confusing mere rumours with 'really-really-might-be-true' rumours.
