With the new Doctor only days away from filming his first scenes as the intrepid time-lord I was wondering what your thoughts are on his costume and his character. He needs to be totally different from DT (who is has been brilliant). I would like a Victorian gentlemen look with an innocence and insecurity. It would be nice for him to get by with his wits, using everyday objects to get by. No more reliance on sonic screwdriver and always knowing the answer to the problem! I'm sure SM will give us a classic Doctor and new series. What do others think??

I reckon MS will retain DT's quirky energy, but act more of a nervous geek (talking to himself under his breath, that sort of thing) than an ego driven skinny guy

As for his costume, he stated that he's a fan of scarves - and since he's filming in the winter and said he wanted to make a Doctor which was very much him, its likely he might where a short scarf occasionally, which would be brilliant.

Just like Doctor 10 only sometimes wears his long jacket, at other times, he just wears one of his two suits. A scarf would also hark back to Tom Baker, classic!

This is killing me! I can't wait to see what Doc 11 is going to wear, and Karen too. I love DT's suits and I reckon MS could have pulled that look off easily but I'd like to see the go for a different look. I think a bit of the 8th Doctors look could be rolled in there. Some kind of nice coat obviously, defo a scarf. Maybe a bow tie. A bit like the 3rd Doctors look but with a few less ruffles.

I like that idea but then again I'd like them to do something different to what I'd expect. That's why I'm so excited.

I was gutted when I heard DT was leaving but since its all started to piece together with Stephen Moffat, and Matt Smith and Karen Gillan its looks like its going to be really cool.

I know, its exciting! I suspect we won't know for at least another month.

Hey, we'll probably know the day after filming starts, because some paparazzi will catch them on set.

Probably skinny jeans, pointy shoes, a crushed velvet jacket, a skinny tie and big big hair. Sort of Mighty Boosh meets Kings of Leon.

I think its fair to say that Matt will have a different look to the tenth Doctor....I mean I can't see any sense in making hime similar in style (clothes), just like DT doesn't wear the swagger type clothes like the Ninth, or the crickety clthes like the fifth.....

I could be wrong, but wouldn't they release a official press release type photo before the paps got their hands on filming pictures? I am sure we had some of Martha, in her red jacket, before the pictures of filming leaked, as always....

I'm hoping for a companion from another time so I'd like a doctor to, well, not match but be different too.

the "bed head" hair has got to go IMO

looks like a 1980's New Romantic who..didn't..quite..get..the...hair gel..look...right....

it's a bit like my "bad hair days" as I can NEVER get the gel or wax to look

as long as he doesn't wear "rude boy" gear with the trousers half way down his backside showing off his Calvin's or a Val Doonican type woolly pully, I'll be happy

How about something similar to the Shalka Doctors outfit?

Add a scarf as well to please MS.

More like weeks, filming on the (new) series has IIRC always started in July and without a Christmas Special to film for this year it may be late July.

I'd be more excited see the first pic of the new Tardis interior than the Doctors new costume!.

As assuming filming starts towards the end of next month (almost certainly in the next 6 weeks), then surely the new Tardis interior has been built by now?. Either built or very near ready to film in.

What about a cricket jumper and off white coat, with a bit of celery on it...

Strange, since he was describing the Fifth Doctor's costume.

Scooty's crew in Cardiff think it's 20th July apparently.

I think he was joking. But if not, here's the Fifth Doctor with celery.

I cant see them not releasing press photos before they start filming. They defo did with DT, standing with Rose and the TARDIS, and like someone said above they did it with Martha too. It would make more sense to do official ones rather than let press sneak photo's out.

I was thinking it might have a bit of a Pertwee edge to it. Ok, Pertwee didn't wear skinny jeans, but he had the velvet jacket and a nice pair of black slacks.
