Changing account holder
Bwoose

Hi all.

When I moved in with my girlfriend over a year ago, I had my BT account moved to her address. We've since split up, and I was wondering if they'll let us transfer the account to her name? The payments have been coming out of her account since I moved there, so should it be a problem?

She will need to place an order to open a new account under her own name.

You need to be very careful. When I split with my wife nearly 10 years ago, the BT phone was in my name. She ran up a phone bill of £500 plus in the last month we were together and the two months after I left.

At my new address, I had a BT phone installed, and the £500 bill was moved to my new account, and I had to pay it off at £50 per month on top of my own phone bill.

To add insult to injury, the Child Support Agency said: "We don't take things like this into account when deciding how much you should pay"!
