Deepest sympathy. I can't help you but I know "a man" who can, and probably sooner than you'll get help here, and that's the dedicated Toppy site:

Have you switched it off at the wall and left it for a few minutes? That can fix all sorts of things that putting it in standby doesn't.

Is it a 5800, and is it 2 years old or more? If so, it could be a power supply problem. See here. You can either replace the capacitors yourself (£5), or replace the whole power supply yourself (£50), or ask Turbosat to do it for you.

Otherwise you can try the emergency download procedure to clear any settings that have got messed up. You need to use the TFDN_USB software on a PC to transfer the 'emptysettings.tfd' file to the toppy.

As previously mentioned, there is sooOO much more info on the toppy website.

If the answer to the above is yes, then it is likely to have a power supply problem. The more you try to use it, the more damage you may do to it, resulting in a more expensive repair bill.

You might be sorry about that! If it's the power supply, it may take out something more expensive. For example, tuner or mainboard, £80.

Are you technically savvy? Know how to use a voltmeter? Know how to take the lid off and stay alive? If so, you can easily diagnose it yourself.

Now that you have told me its age, and that it seems (inexpicably) to be OK just now, the more I think it's the power supply.
