No texts when roaming

Hi, I am currently in France, and until Friday I had no problem using my o2 uk phone across here, but now i am unable to receive texts, i can send them ok and i can make/receive calls.
I rang o2 who told me they cannot gaurentee services abroad.
I have tried changing networks, switching my phone (blackberry 8900) off and on, but still nothing.
Any ideas as this is really annoying!!

As they say, they can't guarantee services will work whilst roaming - they have no control over that. I'd have tried manually selecting a different roaming network, but as you've already tried that I can't really think of anything else it could be, other than your handset?
You might find that all of a sudden 50 text messages arrive!
