Would anyone say that Guns & Roses comeback with Chinese Demoracy was great even if it was Axl Roses and some weirdos and not Slash or Duff.Or would it have been a better comeback with the real band and some music videos for it on MTV.Or would some people say it was the most underrated comeback ever and not one to remember.

IMHO without the others (especially Slash) it didn't sound much like the Guns N' Roses that I grew to love. I think that even if they did manage to overcome Axl's ego for long enough, the passion that is so evident on Lies and Appetite would have been missing and it's the passion as much as the music that makes GnR sound like GnR.

Having said that, when viewed as a standalone Axl & guest band record, it's not a bad effort.

It's a good album, but with no promotion and videos the whole thing felt more like the end rather than a new beginning.

The album's great. It's a slow burner, give it time and it'll hook you in. "Better" is one of the best songs they've ever done imo. Axl's vocal is incredible. I find it hillarious when people complain it doesn't sound like late 80s/early 90s classic GNR... why should it? It's 2009 ffs. Good on Axl for moving things along and updating his sound.

Some of us still think that he should have dropped the name. I think fans of his & GnR in general would have give it a listen if it the band was called anything else but he wouldn't have the baggage of the GnR lable.

I think Slash did the right thing. He tried something different and people can take it or leave it but it's not slighting the GnR history.
