Has anyone heard of or had experience of the following,

I copied some pictures from a usb stick to the Photo partition to try and do a slide show to music, as part of a learning process with the Foxsat HDR. After copying the photos to the Photo partition I changed to the Radio partition.
To my bemusement I saw two folders, one for "The Mentalist" and on for "The Wire" both folders showed that they were empty. Now being somewhat confused I cam out of the partition and made sure that I entered the Radio partition and no my eyes had not deceived me, there they were still sitting there. Very odd.

So I decided to delete them, I changed to the file manager,

The file manager shows has Heading " File Manager(Radio) then the listing below shows HDD:Video and then lists all yes all of my Folders in the Video Partition. Now I am thinking this is very weird. So I the come out of the file manager and exit the media list. I check what is in the Video partition and decided which to try and delete from the Radio Partition and if its not really showing the Radio Partition will not matter if it gets deleted. I chose the Robin Hood folder with 1 episode. In the File manager for the Radio, I should state that all folders are shown as empty. Yes, I guessed correctly when I deleted the folder in the (so, called Radio Partition) it deleted the folder with the episode from the Video partition.

I then decided to do a test recording of a Radio station broadcast; I recorded 2 minutes of Radio 2. Went Back into the media list, changed device and there were the two folders, one for the Mentalist and one for the Wire with the test recording that I had made from the Radio. Now if I go to file manager it shows all of the empty folders (even though they are not empty) as well as my test radio recording.

Answers on a postcard, please to a very confused Foxsat HDR owner!

Your right its not a big problem, but this is my second HDR as the first one went west after starting to do some odd things. So I am a little concerned, especially as I have had odd recordings missed and corrupted recordings lately and other odd behaviour like the HDR turning it self on from standby for no apparent reason. At least none that I could fathom as I had not got any recordings set for that particular time.

Llke a lot of people on this forum, I am overall pleased with this box, but being honest I would like Humax to step upto the mark and release a new firmware version to fix quite a few niggles, I for one would not object to small step firmware fixes and a major one, instead of waiting and waiting for the all encompassing firmware fix. Especially since there has to be at least one more after the upcoming one to bring in the iPlayer function.

I have read on here before that the reason the folders appear in radio is because that are empty and until they have a video file in them the box does not know that they are tv or radio programmes. Which sort of makes we sense as nothing about the crid tells it that it is a radio or tv prof. So nothing wrong with your box and I am sure that unless the broadcasters change the way the crids work and the boxes read them there is very little that Humax can do about it. I personally don't record many radio progs so don't see it as a problem.

hmm, I find that odd to say the least, given that the Photo folder does not show any video files or radio recordings. Also if that t is the case, then surely once a file has been recorded it should go to "normal operation" and store all files in the correct partition?

Whilst this is not a show stopper, it is yet another annoyance that I have to explain to my wife who to quote her " I just want to be able to use the box and not be confused everytime i try, by yet another weird thing happening. It was so much easier when we had the video"

Ahh well, roll on firmware fixes and the joys that may bring.
