For about 2 months, I have had a strange, intermittent problem when I try to make a call on my BT landline. On some occasions, when I try to dial a number, the dial tone just continues and the call does not connect. I contacted BT last week only when I spoke to a friend who lives in the next street who said she was having the same problem. BT sent an engineer to the exchange and everything seemed to be working that evening. The next day, the problem was back, albeit less frequently than before. Even though it is happening less now, it still can be annoying when it takes 6 attempts to make a call. I telephoned BT again and they said my line tested fine this time and that it was my internal wiring and/or telephone. Not satisfied with this, I have bought a new telephone and plugged it into the test socket this morning and the problem still occurs every few minutes. I'm fed up of trying to deal with the BT call centre in India, so I've just sent them an email. Does anyone know what could be causing this fault? Has anyone ever experienced it before?
Many thanks
