Right now in this moment, it has to be either Radiohead or Elbow for me. Any thoughts?

Nowhere near as good but imo they are still the best British band around.

i'd like to say Oasis , they are the best band in britain outright alongside Radiohead, Coldplay and U2 etc .... (by the way are U2 british , i'd argue they are in a unwritten rule)

BUT at the moment i'd say the Arctic Monkeys , their last 2 albums are better than Oasis's last 2 , but not "Def Maybe" and "Morn Glory"

probably The Chemical Brothers. Their last album was really good, and they're excellent live.

Ignore my first post, Johnny One Lung is the only British member of the band. I change my vote to Captain Everything! of Watford.

Muse, Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, Bullet For My Valentine, Biffy Clyro... to be honest I don't know why I even bothered replying as there are still quite a lot of brilliant bands in this country.

Best oldie (ie a band that have been going consistantly for at least the last 15 years): Oasis or Primal Scream

Best current band: Kasabian (will be listening to their new album later)

Favourite current band: Babyshambles.

They were my highlight of T in the Park last year, couldn't believe how good they were. (Ooh creepy an advert just came on with Do It Again haha)

Another great live band are The Fratellis, but they're second album was no where near as good as the first (IMO)

I still love Coldplay though

British Sea Power. Possibly a bit too arty to ever major-league it alongside yer Coldplay's and Kasabian's and what-have-yous.....but not many, if any, British bands in the noughties have produced three consecutive albums of such consistently high quality.....they deserve more success than they've received, it's not as if their singles aren't radio friendly. A pity.

Skunk Anansie have reunited, so them But in all fairness, it's probably only going to be for a greatest hits tour so they're not really "current".

For me it'd be Maximo Park. They're not my favourite band, but I've just realised I don't listen to many bands (in the traditional sense of the word), and the ones I do are not from the UK.

Sugababes.
