Don't know about best but my current favourite British band would have to be Snow Patrol.

for me it has to be "the stereophonics" one of the most consistent bands around. probably the best voice aswell. obviouslly imo

Arctic Monkeys, Maximo Park Bloc Party, Pendulum (well one of them :P), Kasabian, The Prodigy, Kid British, Twisted Wheel

Blur. now that they're back together they count, right? As much as I like Oasis, they were obviously the better musicians. You only have to listen to The Universal to work that out. or Chemical World.

Failing that, Arctic Monkeys. They're hyped all over the place, but some of it is justified. Alex Turner is probably as good a Ray Davis as my generation is likely to get frankly.

I wouldn't count La Roux unless you've heard the album. Its albums that make artists great, not just a few songs, also the Noisettes first album was better, now they just sound like everything else.

Bloc Party by a long shot for me.
