Healthy home-made milkshakes

As I love milkshakes I recently got a blender and have been experimenting with ingredients to make the thickest, tastiest, healthiest and lowest fat milkshake I could. And I think I've cracked it! My preference has always been for Strawberry flavoured milkshakes so I used:-

2 x Low Fat Sainsbury's Strawberry yoghurts (106 calories each). I froze them overnight. When I took them out of the freezer the next day, I put them in the microwave for 40 seconds as they were rock hard, then I mashed them down a bit to put in the blender.

A handful of large, washed, fresh strawberries.

1/4 pint of semi-skimmed milk

Two tablespoons of no added sugar Crusha Strawberry milkshake syrup

The I bunged it all the blender for 45 seconds and voila, ana AMAZING strawberry milkshake. And easily under 300 calories for a pint or so.

Give it a try, and let me know your suggestions.

I don't drink milk so its soya milk, frozen banana and honey.

I like to use frozen fruit in my smoothies.

frozen bananas, strawberries and/or blueberries
plain low fat yogurt
milk or juice, if needed
about a teaspoon of honey or agave nectar
15 grams of ground flaxseed (it has fat; but it's GOOD fat)

I also like cherries (no pits) and mango in my smoothies and I add ice if I am not using frozen fruit. Sometimes I add a tablespoon of oatmeal too.

For a treat, I'll add a little peanut butter.

Definitely, frozen fruit all the way. My favourite is frozen raspberries, yum!

I like to blend frozen raspberries with banana and either orange juice, or sometimes plain yoghurt.

I use peaches or mangoes. I then blitz them in the blender with milk, honey and porridge oats.

I sometimes add vanilla ice cream for decadence.
