Also all three are simulcast in HD, so need not to clash with anything else HD on the BBC. That may cause scheduling problems for BBC Two (Thursday), Three (Tuesday) and Four (Wednesday) as well.

They could always postpone Hotel Babylon.

Wouldn't have needed to if they'd had TW last week, though there's still the HD channel complications.

I think as far as BBC HD goes, Torchwood should get the slot, I confess I am unsure how the BBC build the BBC HD schedule.

However looking what is on the other channels on that Friday

BBC 2: Top Gear (dont think Top Gear in in HD)
BBC 3: T (could be HD not sure, but it is a music festival so I think Torchwood would get the slot)
BBC 4: Glastonbury (highlights so that would not be an issue)

sorry I dont have the week numbers but what they could have was

last week: Torchwood x5
this week: Occupation x3 / Hotel Babylon

Not just for Friday, if HB is dropped from the 9pm slot, it's dropped from the 9pm HD slot too (obviously none of the other channels have it then).

All the channels seem to have a crack at the 9pm slot on the HD channel, and BBC3's "Personal Affairs" on Tuesday and BBC2's "Krod Mandoon"/"Mitchell & Webb" on Thursday look to still be running then. BBC4 currently has Wednesday, but may not that week.

Well, yes, that was what I was implying.

that is a point I had not considered the other days, would it be totally out of line to air those shows at 10pm that week?

ok looking at BBC HD (just downloaded to my digiguide)

Monday 8pm - 10:35pm to be announced
Tuesday 9pm TBA - 10pm Personal Affairs
Wednesday 9pm - 10:35 TBA

Thursday:
8pm TBA
9pm TBA
10pm Psychoville
10:30pm That Mitchell & Webb Look

Friday 9pm TBA & 10pm Gavin & Stacey

Friday seems odd as im pretty sure Hotel Babylon is in HD, one of the first BBC shows to be in HD I think.

BBC3 has a 10pm commitment to Eastenders, while BBC2 has a 10.30pm commitment to Newsnight. The HD channel angle only occurred to me this morning. I'd hate to be a scheduler while they're at this stage of one single channel, though they could possibly get away with it being non-simultaneous. I don't have HD so don't know how likely that is. I've seen HD programmes on the channel listed at times other than their 'analogue' broadcast, but they may be repeats later in the week.

Any HD channel experts?

Aha, our posts crossed. Looks like they are moving EE on BBC3 though I don't know if that means the Thursday M&W at 10.30 is a repeat or a 'first look' as it won't also be on BBC Two then. It's all very complicated.

HB is in HD, as I said before.

how is Eastenders a problem, that airs on BBC 3 as normal, its not in HD

it seems that shows like That Mitchell & Webb Look & Personal Affairs are just going to air later on BBC HD than normally, but air on BBC 2 (etc) at there normal time.

ive never been keen on the 5 day a week thing, BBC HD is just making it even more complicated than it needs to be.

what is mos interesting is that Hotel Babylon whilst scheduled on BBC One is not on BBC HD, and the rest of the week seems fairly open, which begs the question why is it even unplaced on the PI?

It's a prob for BBC3 scheduling, not BBCHD scheduling. However, seemingly not such a big problem (being a repeat) that it can't be moved.

It is going to be HD soonish though, I believe.

That is interesting, though it's 50-50 as to which channel's schedule is effed up there.

HB is normally simulcast on the HD channel though.

The clincher, I think, will be if C1909 is on the HD channel at 9pm on the Sunday. What does digiguide say?

I think two things

1) Hotel Babylon wont be on that week (BBC One & BBC HD)
2) BBC HD schedule will bend to make room for Torchwood.

well it seems like Eastenders is on BBC 3 normal time all that weeks, its just that some of the shows that might normal be simulcast on BBC HD wont be that week.

of course the theory is HD is so great, people will wait the 60 minutes to watch the show in HD.

as for Eastenders being in HD, im not going to worry about that, as its not going to effect Torchwood.

the HD Channel has C1909, 21:00 - 22:50, which I think is Digiguide mistake, but it is scheduled on BBC HD

I'm inclined to agree, given your digiguide findings.

Do get back about C1909.

C1909 that will change these things normally do.

Our posts crossed again. Ta.

Really think the BBC should be looking at getting another HD slot, given so many primetime programmes are upgrading to HD now.

Ah, so digiguide is not reliable? That puts us back to square one.

you have a point, the problem is there is so little HD space avabile on DTT, a 2nd BBC HD stream could be tricky.

I think a time will come when the BBC HD schedule will just have to bend more, and maybe shows will air on HD before SD, to help the schedule fit, and possibly less of these 5 night a week stunts, which seem like a good idea, but in reality are a pain.

basically the 10pm - 10:45pm will be TBA, and sometimes when that happens the program before will extended across that time, but all the other stuff seems right.

I think the 'before' option on HD is a good idea (just as they have previously done on BBC3), even for post watershed stuff which can go an earlier day/week.
