Perry vs. Ditto: time they shut up?

I recently read about the "war of words" between Katy Perry and Beth Ditto and to be honest it's getting annoying now.
Beth Ditto stated that Katy Perry's song I Kissed a Girl is offensive to gay culture but who the hell is she to speak on behalf of every gay, bisexual and lesbian? I have straight, gay, bi and lesbian friends (and I'm bi myself) and no one hates the song because it offends their sexuality. In fact, if anything the gay community probably helped Katy Perry reach number one in the first place.
Also, by pointing out about how it's blase about a straight girl kissing another girl, surely that just alienates the gay community further by making them seem even more different. We've all snogged someone we didn't really fancy/mean to because we're drunk, wanted some fun, were curious etc.
So Ditto, thanks for trying, but maybe you should shut up now. Any thoughts?

i like Beth Ditto and i think she's got a point.

The fact is, a lot of people in the gay community get annoyed by this faux-lesbianism that is EVERYWHERE because its demeaning. It kinda suggests that being a lesbian is just a bit of fun, nothing to be taken seriously, and we just do it to turn men on, that we're ONLY here for the enjoyment of men. And that all these women really want, is a nice big penis to sort them out. This kind of imagery can be seen everywhere faux-lesbianism is, lads mags, low brow newspapers [sport, star, people, the sun], pornography, even some fashion magazines.

I assume that is the point BD is getting at.

Katy Perry was trying to be trendy with the "I kissed a girl song" and sell her record. If the song was called "I kissed a boy", it wouldn't have even entered the chart, or maybe it would have, but I doubt it would have done as well. Katy used the lesbian cool trend thing to sell records.

I thought the song was annoying and irritated. The worst song from last year

However, I think Beth should relax a bit. It is only a song
