Is there a universal remote that will operate the Humax freesat recorder

Yes, Philips and Logitech both work fine.

Thanks Flyer. Can you tell me which models or will they all work?

I use the Logitech Harmony One, takes some setting up to start with but it is a popular model.

Bloody Hell! That costs nearly as much as the Humax.

They should all work, the Philips is very easy to set up, the logitech requires a USB connection and can be a pain to set up.

I got the Philips SRU8008 for £45 and its perfect.

I bought the Harmony One too, and the only thing I was concerned about was the lack of colour buttons, but I assigned them to the colour touchscreen at the top, and it works a treat. The remote feels exactly right in the hand, and the buttons all have a nice feel to them. In fact, I have owned several universal remotes in the past few years, and think this is by far the best remote I have ever used. It even has a charging cradle which works perfectly too.

I use the Logitech Harmony 525 - also takes some setting up but quite a bit cheaper than the Harmony One (£60 on the Logitech site compared with £170 for the One but you should be able to get it cheaper).

I got a brand new Harmony 885 very cheap on eBay, nobody else bid

They do go for quite a high price, even on eBay, but if you're not desperate and patient, you can find them.

BTW, I wouldn't be without it for controlling my 2 stb's and my other A/V kit.

Rgds.

Les.

I use the one for all 5 model urc 7555 £20 you can copy your original remote and put the function were you want.

Or you can go to http://www.hifi-remote.com/jp1/ and find out how to program your own remote by making a simple interface for around £2 and download the codes from the site to the remote.
Takes a little reading but well worth it.

I also use a OFA model, the URC7556. Does the job, great value if you don't have a complex AV system.

Hardly, but it's worth the cost. It's the first universal remote that I've kept. It actually feels like a proper remote.

I paid £70 from Amazon for mine using a £25 discount code I got from an AV Forum, might be worth have a look around to see if there are any more about.
