Does anyone own 'Ray of Light' by Madonna?

Do any of you think it's criminally under-rated?

I think it was perfectly rated then and has remained condignly plaudited to this day.

It was all over the place when it was released and like most pop songs faded away once people finished buying it.

I think the OP might've been referring to the album Ray of Light rather than the single? (please put me straight!)

Its OK - the video for Ray of Light is excellent BTW . . .

Nope, I think the only stand out track on it is Sky Fits Heaven. It's very patchy just like most Madonna albums imo.

I think Like A Prayer and Ray Of Light are overrated and her early 90's output like Erotica and Bedtime Stories is underrated.

It certainly wasn't underrated at the time.. And still isn't today, I'd say.. Some of the more experimental stuff is a bit hit and miss but it was the album that put her firmly back on the map in terms of both critical and commercial success.

Yes, I think Madonna's career is split between BEFORE and AFTER 'Ray of Light' (the album, which i was originally refering too)

Agreed

Funny how songs from a few months back have done the same

madonna circa 97-98 was brilliant music from her, but thats why shes the queen of pop because every few years she re-invents herself to stay modern and not get lame.

ray of light and frozen both some of madonnas best work (yeah i know william orbit did ray of light)

I loved Frozen, and I agree that is the reason why she's lablled queen of pop cause she awlwsts reinvents herself and music.

I like the singles from it and Sky Fits Heaven but the rest of the album leaves me cold. That said I prefer it to Music and American life but I don't think it's a patch on Confessions.

"The Power Of Goodbye" is my favourite song from "Ray Of Light"

It's a great album and it was an interesting era for Madonna but I thought it was very overrated when it initally came out. I've come to appreciate it more since but it's not my favourite Madonna album. I will always favour her earlier releases when she was pure pop all the way.

Crazy For You is lovely.

My all time favourite Madonna track is Borderline though. I was gobsmacked when she performed it during the Sticky & Sweet Tour. I think it was the first time she'd sung it live since the Virgin Tour over twenty years previously. It's always great when she gives a nod to her classics.
