Apparently Paul McCartney joined Neil for the Day in the Life encore at Hyde Park tonight....that would have quite something! Hopefully there'll be some footage of that.

I hope so. I loved Neils version at Glastonbury.

He did indeed and I was lucky enough to be there...great stuff.

Neil was fantastic tonight...best I've ever seen him. The Pretenders were also excellent.

Thats brilliant. Old Paul looks as though he's enjoyed a few drinks beforehand, and he seemed to take Neil by surprise there. It was a great moment though.

He does look a bit tipsy ! I'm at a loss as to understand why though , with the vast back catalogue that Neil Young has , he has adopted a forty year old Beatles song into his repertoire ?

I guess he's playing the songs he likes playing...this one suits his style.

I saw Neil Young last year at Hammersmith and he was absolutely phenomenal. I dunno about "too mellow"- the last part of his set was complete rock-out feedback mayhem. Wish I'd seen him yesterday, but I'll not forget last year's gig as long as I live. Definitely one of the rock legends, even now he's over 9000 years old.

McCartney was probably too far up his own a*s to learn Powderfinger...

I've seen Shaky quite a few times & you always get a great show.
His back catalogue is vast, & he always chucks in a few surprises.
Anyone watching him play Free World with the audience comprised of people mostly half his age, totally engaged, would recognise what a true artist he is, & the real flag carrier for rock & free expression.

His unstringing of old black was superb.

How come BBC manage to cover a festival properly & ITV make a complete balls up of it?

His cover of 'All along the Watchtower' with Bruce Springsteen is pretty good too ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCVjDFR5xtg
