I haven't seen much of classic who, so aside from having heard of Davros and knowing who he is, I only have Journey's End to go on. I have no complaints about the quality of the acting, but find many other enemies were more effective and more frightening. Perhaps I should seek out some of the Davros episodes from the classic series, as I really didn't find him all that impressive in new who. He came over as an OTT manaical villain who had one really good point with which to hurt the Doctor (making people into weapons) in an episode which, brilliant and emotional final few minutes aside, I remember as being largely silly and an excuse to shoehorn in as many companions as possible. Which is a shame, as the buildup was very good. It's entirely possible Davros would be more effective in a better episode, but this is the only one I've seen him in. Presumably he'll be back at some point though.

I fear, like the debate about the Ood, we may have to agree to disagree on this point- I'm aware my viewpoint is likely to be a minority one.

Well, the fact he killed all those people ... plus he was an adversary, whether bad or not. ... in that he needed to be stopped. (Though he was bad, just ... in a nice way )

I miss him

I agree with your comments about the episode being largely silly but I don't think that applies to Davros. Julian Bleach nailed Davros perfectly IMO. And I hope he will be back someday but not in the near future hopefully.

I love the Ood and although they were primarily peaceful, their treatment of that guy, turning him into an Ood was rather scary. It was just, I'd argue, but still scary.

As to the question, these are the three I would like as the top three (although the third one could be a couple other characters just as easily):

1 - Midnight: The possessed Sky Silvestry (Lesley Sharp)
2 - Blink: The Weeping Angels
3 - The Daleks (various episodes)

Now as to what I think is more likely to actually BE the top 3, that's quite different!:

3 - Blink: The Weeping Angels
2 - The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances - The Tula Zombies
1 - The Sound Of Drums / Last Of The Timelords: Harold Saxon / The Master (John Simm)

Ok I'm having to make what i would want the top 3 to be and what i think the top 3 WILL be.

What I Want:
3) Sky Silvestry
2) Family of Blood
1) Simm's Master

What I predict:
3) Davros
2) Simm's Master
1) The Weeping Angels
