I will try, if I notice them, but I think you may be mistaking me for the poster SpellCzech - I think she is offline at the moment although I believe she has many sockpuppets

Hehe. SpellCzech. Really ?

I get really embarrassed sometimes. I go back and correct myself and someone's already quoted me.

But just don't tell me about it. I hate having my spelling and typos pointed out.

Anyway. This can be your first job as my fiancee.

Does this mean that we are now one of those couples who have to keep telling everyone that we are a couple and, you know, bangin on about it ad nauseum just in case anybody hasn't noticed ??? I hope not, or the weddings off. And Socha can chuck the peach taffeta on the bonfire along with the Maid d'Orleans

And now I'm going back to the other thread - poor Moila will wonder who these barking mad women are, who have hoisted her thread into unknown territory

But before I go - can we have a puppy dog, pretty please ???

I just couldn't think how to express that thought.

I would love a dog but I live in a second floor flat and I am at work all day so it is impossible. I want a little puppy dog to call Flurry - one of these days when my ship comes in, maybe

I'm kind of dreading the day when my redundo runs out and I have to get a job working normal hours... someone's gonna have to walk my Sheena for me every day. (Actually, come to think of it, my friend who's a professional dogwalker DOES owe me loads of money she's never likely to give back... think I could cut a deal there...)

Nothing is more awesome than puppies. Except maybe puppies who buy you beer.

My ex used to have a housemate who worked at an animal sanctuary - she used to bring litters of day old premature puppies home for a few days and feed them with pipettes. They were like tiny tiny tiny and you could hold like three of them in one hand ((((( puppies ))))))

I wasn't allowed any pet more complicated than a goldfish when I lived at home either. Had to wait years till I was in the position to get one, and having a dog now means all the more because it took so long.

Animals are very cute and cuddly but they're also a lot of hard work and I doubt you're quite so jealous of me when I'm up at 4.30am every day feeding a yowling beast to keep it quiet; or in the middle of winter when I can hardly see for the sleet that's lashing down on the morning walk and I'm grateful when the dog does a poo cos at least it's something warm to handle; or when I have to pull the bits of grass that are hanging out of her bum out so she doesn't smear them all over the carpet; or when I have to prise her jaws apart to release random bits of food/woodland animals that she's got her gnashers round; or when the meagre bit of social life I have has to be planned around how long she can be left alone for; or when a sizeable chunk of my wages go toward feeding, insuring and medicating her...

Or how about my friend who came home from a long day at work only to have to get down on her hands and knees and scrub the carpet after her dog got the squits during a storm, or my other friend who has permanent shoulder problems from trying to keep her incredibly wilful dog under control.

I could go on but I hope you get my point. Animals can be incredibly hard work for all their cuteness and you have to take that into account when you look at homing them.

a boring goldfish, goldfish are some of the best pets ever when kept correctly, number 1 being in a big enough tank and number 2 when they are kept in at least pairs as they are sociable.

anyway, back to topic, no you cant get a pet and hide it, surely if your going to hide it it will live in a dark little corner with nothing to see and little space. if your mum says no, you need to listen to her. i was always the same when i was growing up, then when i was about 12 she let me get my first pet, a guinea pig (before i knew better that they shouldnt be kept alone) i loved him so much. now im grown up and have my own house, and i have a small zoo a 6 foot long fish tank, 4 mice in a 3 foot tank, 2 gerbils in a 3 foot tank, 1 cat and 1 dog. they cost a fortune, this is the part you dont think about when you are young i didnt! just wait until you are older and in your own place, it may feel like itl take forever right now, but befor eyou know it you can have your own littel zoo eating you out of house and home
