Whilst I think putting spoilers in thread titles is mean spirited and very obviously wrong ... I don't agree that the name of an actor is a spoiler, seeing as he's not been in the show before.

As has been pointed out, the return of Billie as Rose comparison is moot, seeing as she was an established figure in the 'verse. I doubt most people would even recognise it was Dalton, and surely the casting of a "high profile" actor in Doctor Who is to draw viewers ... so it is likely to be revealed by the Beeb?

You could have easily said that you feel that exams are easy with what you have said now in that above post...but no you talked about proving that colleges had dumbed down as students don't know what Despot is (which even a ten year old can find out from the internet, without having to study, so is no proof of whether someone should be at uni or not)......which sounded like you were undermining the other poster for thinking differently....rather than giving an opinion of your own...

But on topic....I really do feel that there is a reason to why the Beeb haven't confirmed him....despite the photo leak....which as you say is nearly everywhere...so why haven't they said anything? Do you think they are planning to retcon people??????/



EDIT: I guess I will admit the Rose comparison was a bit rubbish....but I still feel that the shock element is still relevent....but I guess the best comparison would be Doomsday....and CT.....I had absolutely no idea that she was in it....and it was literaly a "What? What? What?" moment for me as well as the Doctor...so I guess, it would be the case for TD....and even people don't think much of him....but his costume would be enough to make those who don't or didn't know about him...to go at seeing him in the episode.....

I agree with Crazzy, actually. For me I don't feel spoiled by this particular piece of information. There are others I wish I hadn't read.

I genuinly did not know that Derek Jacobi was going to be in s3. Due to circumstances I didn't see this till almost a year after original broadcast - just before the beginning of s4 in fact. I was to see DJ. To me he was playing Professor Yana. Because I am an original fan I did begin to wonder as we were heading for a finale if he could be the Master, but it was all just wonderful as Utopia unfolded.

If someone can have this kind of experience why not let them? I don't understand why it annoys you so much to be honest - it's not as if it hurts or compromises you in any way to leave names out of Thread Titles.

Live and let live - have your discussions, but respect those who would rather find out through official announcements or watching the show itself. That way everybody's happy.

Yep thats my guess also -loads of memories coming flooding back for the Doctor as he sees him again..like that idea .

As for putting the name in thread titles I agree with both views really -theres no way TD is going to be kept secret

But at the same time ..until it's official and announced via a press release or DW magazine some people probably want to wait for the fun of a official announcment and the first proper pics etc ..

Slightly different, and at a time when I wasn't a spoiler freak....the first time I saw Anthony Head in the trailer after the Christmas Invasion....and I was like .....that feeling was fantastic...I had no idea who he was playing....but it was nice to see him like that in the trailer....I have no idea if his casting had been made public before then or not....but I definitely had no idea.....


Due to no announcement yet.....I really get this feeling that Dalton's character is bigger than just a cameo.....maybe one those characters that people have mentioned already....including the Rani..........but whatever so...nothing small, that is for sure......
