My dog lost his eye :(

My dog had to have his eye taken out on saturday night because of an out of control ulcer and conjunctivitus. he still has his right eye which he see out of but the left was useless so they put him under and took it out then sticthed it up

he is on painpills moisture drops for his 1 eye and anti inflammatory pills and wears a neck cone to stop him scratching

but today i saw 1 sticth is poking out of the eye not too big but long enough to be grabbed and i am worried its coming undone

so angry if the vets didnt do there job properly what should i do?? take him down or see how it goes ?? they said to keep the neck cone on for a week

i am so sad its awful seeing him with 1 eye but he seems ok with it been playing alot with his ball

Even totally blind dogs manage very well in familiar surrounding and he will not be bothered by only having one eye, once it's healed.
It could affect his depth perception a bit but they usually very quickly adapt to that.
I would call up your vet to check but stitches are usually done closely enough to each other that even if one comes loose the rest will hold fine.
It may not even be the stitch coming undone but the tail of the stitch, (which is the correct way to do removable stitches so you can get hold of something to lift to cut the stitch one side of the knot to remove it) could have just have move round a bit so you can now see it.

Sorry to hear about your dog losing an eye, but he will still be fine with just the one.

Our dog also has one eye (Not sure on how it happened as we got him from a rescue center and they didn't know what had happened either)

But she manages just fine with one eye, and still a very highly active dog ^^

I'm always sorry to hear things like this but your dog will manage fine with one eye. We have a terrier near us who had an eye removed about six years ago as he had a growth behind it and he is always perfectly happy and seems to cope as well as a fully sighted dog and he goes out walking several times a day. It just seems upsetting to see dogs like this or pictures of them but I'm sure they are still happy dogs.

She looks like she's winking cheekily!! Lovely dog!

OP, your dog will be fine - my dog recently had a little lump on his eyelid removed, and the stitches he had were exactly the same. If you're worried, pop down to the vet, but I'd say the tail of the stitch was left out purposely. You might not have seen it straight away if there was a bit of scabbing aroung the eye socket.
