My local Chinese has absolutely massive portion sizes, as does my local curry house and pretty much everywhere I’ve ever got a take away from.

It always makes me feel guilty about wasting food, but half will do me and if I do treat myself to a take away I don’t want to be eating it twice.

Why do they make them so huge? Does anyone actually eat a whole portion of rice and a whole main meal or do they share? I’d share if I could agree with anyone else in my house about what to have lol

My take-away does snack boxes, which are enough for one portion.

I know, it's the best part about a takeaway.

I used to warm it up for lunch but I'm trying to be a bit healthier now and cutting take away down to a rare treat. So if I'm eating half a massive portion for tea (which trust me these ones really are,) I don't want to be eating the same again for lunch boohoo.

You can always freeze what you don't need. Weird to complain about getting too much.

I don't think it's weird to complain about getting too much. I'd rather not waste half and pay less. But then again, I guess that way the chinese would lose out on money.

Ahh well, such is life. I just wondered if other people felt like me or not really.

I also wondered if it was normal to eat a full portion lol

I rarely have Chinese but when I do I find myself hungry again an hour later - so can easily polish off the whole lot in an evening (which is why I rarely have it )

The 'house special' trays are generally massive, so I get one of them between me and OH. Cheaper, and if we want a little more we get sesame prawn toast and a portion of satay sauce as well, yum yum!

(Is it wrong that I'm getting hungry while typing this??! I'm dreaming of chinese food now!! )

I find indian not as nice the next morning. Having said this, theres rarely any leftover indian because they always use small cartons no matter which takeaway you go to. Not keen on cold pizza either.

Just buy three or four dishes, and chuck away what you don't eat

Or feed it to the dog, or eat it tomorrow if you can stand it. Can't do that with pizza though.

I'm sure plenty of people can eat it all up. With Chinese, I can eat 2 mains, and 2/3 of a rice. With Indian, popadoms, a starter, a main (in long tray), 2/3 of a rice.

My wife has similar tastes in food to me so we just buy one portion and share it. All you have to do is find someone to share your food. Maybe put an advert in the local paper. Wanted : Takeaway food sharer.

Can't what? Eat it the next day?

We do. It's fine as long as you put it in the fridge overnight. Haven't keeled over yet anyway.

Ohhh, I love it. On occasion, I have been known to order a pizza when arriving home late from the pub with a view to putting the whole thing in the fridge when it arrives, purely to have it cold, for breakfast.

I often have second day servings from leftover takeaway and just like second day soup its always better.

Never have rice cold though, too much change of bacterial build up, Rice is one of the worst offenders for food poisoning, so I always nuke that big time.
