I heard on another message board that the producers of DWTS said they didn't want Donny Osmond so soon after Marie was on, so they got in touch with the SCD producers and he is not almost a shoo-in!

There's a thread further up that seems to confirm Alesha's appointment as a judge. This is not a good thing.

As much as I like Alesha - it seems a very strange decision

What they could have done is have the pro that went out the week before as a guest judge with Camilla starting. So they have different experts for different weeks.

Having Vincent or Flavia in the semi finals because they know what an Argentine Tango is supposed to look like. And it can be judged fairly.

I know what you mean, but I think that could open a can off worms about favouritism and bitterness tbh.

I still hope there will be five judges - Alesha plus someone with ballroom experience.

PS The Press Release does say Alesha will be judging performance rather than technique - I think that's fair enough as we've often moaned about performance being judged over technique.

That would be an excellent idea. And if there's concern about spouses judging each other (eg, Lilia and Darren, James and Ola) then just bring in one of the pro dancers from Dancing with the Stars as Arlene's replacement - I believe there are a few that have stopped doing DWTS, aren't there, so one of them could become a judge on SCD. That's a way to combine professional experience and expertise with the BBC's ridiculous desire for a younger judge.

I really don't get this thing about the BBC wanting a younger judge. Alesha is 30, not 20.

I also think Arlene has been moved side ways to the One Show because she couldn't keep her mouth shut to the media last year - we didn't like it and I doubt if the BBC did either.

I don't see what Arlene will bring to the One Show though. If her role is to talk about SCD on the show, what's the point of having ITT? Won't even the most ardent supporters get a little fed up with that much coverage? (Or is what I've just said tantamount to sacrilege?)
