I think people are worried that he wont bother showing up, wont do all shows, will postpone again, will mime all the way through etc etc. I think after the excitement of the announcement people are now starting to think logically and saving their money. They will all sell in the end.

They are production seats. The reason the tickets became avaliable was because the production staff needed less space then they originally thought.

That's probably what Jacko is thinking and is probably going to delay it some more.

More like he's thinking '19 more sleeps until I jump on a private plane and escape the lynch mob when I don't turn up'

Maybe people will believe it if they put a mannequin on stage, or a guy in a plastic mask and play some videos?

I don't think Michael's going to be at the O2 doing his shows no more regardless if this is a hoax or not.

His backers for the London concerts couldn't get insurance,so you can imagine the astronomical bill that all those cancelled concerts are going to cost.

Not a fan of the manchild for obvious reasons but he was a musical genius in his heyday.

Well let's face it,everyone knew something would go wrong and the gigs wouldn't happen.......I just wasn't expecting his demise to be the reason.

I still can't get over it, I've never looked forward to anything more, and it won't happen now. I've never shed a tear for a celeb until today. Rest in peace Jacko.

It is a sad. Be interesting to see where the 02 can go from here. I wonder how much this will cost them.

This is part of an article in this weeks The Wharf newspaper which they couldnt have had time to pull. An unlucky bit of timing.

The biggest buzz this summer is the return of Michael Jackson to live performance. The singer sold out 50 dates at The O2, although rumours persist he won't make it to the first show on July 13. Mr Campbell is confident he will.

He said: "I'm not worried about Michael in the slightest. We thought we'd get him but we never thought it would be this quickly. We've been trying since we started.

"At the moment they are rehearsing in the States and everyone I've heard back from says it's all great. There will be a lot of surprises to blow people away. He was the King of Pop and he will come back and show people why."

Jackson appeared at a short and slightly surreal press conference in March to announce the shows and Mr Campbell was there to meet him.

He said: "Even now people come up to me and say it wasn't him, it was a lookalike.

"Michael was totally lucid, totally together, very focused. We didn't ask him to do 10 press ups but he also looked very fit. I had a chat with him and he was great. He was nervous like anyone else.

"Jackson will be big beyond big. We could have sold 120 shows if we had been able to fulfil every ticket request."

It depends whether they can get anyone in to replace him. Presumably they have taken a deposit and possibly cancelling this close will incur the full fees. However they will obviously lose out a lot on merchandising, drinks etc.
