Have you tried calling the dedicated N97 support line?
(available until 2010 apparently and subject to fair use) To be fair to Nokia I've not had any issues yet, so it's a good phone in my view. I'm sorry yours is playing up. |

Why do you say that, are there more people with problems that you are aware of?

When I was testing the limits of the N97s storage, I was filling up the C: drive and when I got down to around 4MB free space I started to get the General Errors on certain functions like opening contacts, opening photos, infact anything that seemed to require the phone to read a chunk of data from somewhere.
What you could try is plugging the phone into a PC and clearing the files you need to, if the errors let you, rather than from the phone. I'm not certain what the problem is, being a general error it probably pops up in a number of different circumstances but the following is worth a try which is what I did and I still had to carry out a soft reset in the end! Clear the cache/privacy data in the internet browser. Then clear out your unimportant texts/emails or files you have transferred to the phone and may be sitting in the inbox. Uninstall any apps that you may have installed to the C: drive and reinstall to E: As you go along check the amount of space on the C: drive using the File Manager and restart the device. If clearing up space on the C: drive does nothing for the errors, you may have to carry out a soft reset (*#7370# on the keypad if i remember correctly). Before you do this, carry out a backup of the apps that come with the phone, if you want them, I think they are Guitar Hero, Spore, MailforExchange installer and anything else you recognise. These installers are in C:\install or c:\installation I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) ![]() The contents of the E: drive will remain but any contacts, messages and anything on C: that isn't part of the ROM will get wiped and restored to default. |

Why because a mac boy bought a Nokia but thought it would be function like a mac ?
well got a new macbook pro - installed windows 'the eastern block' XP on it to update the software to 11.xx pretty much seems the same as before. It is clunky and frustrating to use - ie lacks speedy response times and does random crash type things but all in all, itll do adn provides a great screen for video etc.. |

I would never install anything on the C drive on the N97, treat that as a system / OS driver and leave it well alone. Put everything on the large drive only. This is the way I work it and no problems at all here for me.

On my C: drive i have 30mb available, but i don't remember actually putting anything on there unless that's where my contacts have gone, going through file manager to try and delete some corrupted files, it just displays "no data" under anything to do with images/videos, and the same no pc suite on the pc
