Restaurant in London: No garlic
Long shot.
![]() Does anyone know of a restuarant in London that doesn't use any garlic. My sister is allergic and we need somewhere to eat for two nights. |

No, she won't go anywhere where it's used.
I don't think we'll find anywhere and we need to book up. There are 20 of us going, so I think her and her boyf will end up having to go somewhere on their own. |

She normally doesn't, she will go to MacDonalds. But the rest of us all like places like Pizza Express, which will cater for a big group. I'm trying to find somewhere decent but I think they will have to make their own arrangments.

I was going to suggest the Sausage and Mash Cafe in Notting Hill (which is fab!) but thinking about it some of their varieties do contain garlic.
Not much Greek food contains garlic but it's not not used so that could be tricky too. Gosh, your poor sister! |

Book a place and tell them about the the garlic allergy.
Then, lie to your sis and say they don't use garlic. Job done.

Gosh I'd say it's nearly impossible to find somewhere with no garlic. Between, garlic bread, garlic mushrooms as starters in even the most basic of places, and then anything with a bit of spice has garlic too. I guess some kind of a burger place would be best even a steak house, would have a garlic butter option on the steak. or garlic dip for chips

Take her to the Hare Krishna place on Soho Street - they aren't allowed garlic.
The food is bland as hell, mind... |

Almost all eateries in the UK will use garlic for something. My local pub uses garlic for stuffed mushrooms and for Cajun chicken and so on and it's a pretty humble steakhouse. It's such a widely-used ingredient that I think you'll find it an almost impossible task.
You could always go the chippy for one night as well or something? |

How allergic is she? I find it hard to believe she won't go in any place where they use it, that must rule out 99% of restaurants in the UK.
I also find the allergy hard to believe, without some foundation. What other veg is there in the family she is also allergic to, such as onion? |

I was wondering about Harry Ramsdens...
She thinks she will end up having sandwiches or salads in their hotel room all weekend. We can't do anything to help, so we'll just have to do what we want I think. Thanks all.

Harry Ramsdens in Piccadilly has closed down but there's a chippy on Poland Street with tables
![]() Edit...reviews aren't great, the Golden Hind on Marylebone Lane is highly recommended. http://www.metro.co.uk/metrolife/foo...&in_page_id=26 |

Sshhhh..... *whispers* We find it hard to believe too. There are a few things she says she's allergic to but won't get tested.

What other veg is there in the family she is also allergic to, such as onion? anyway on a training day I met said woman and being the nosy mare I am, asked her what it was all about. She had had a garlic allergy for a few years that was getting worse and worse, to the point where if she even was sat near someone who had eaten it she would come out in hives, couldnt breathe etc. Anyway, she had tried everything to cure herself from the docs til as a last resort they suggested a vegetable diet. She had to eat nothing but raw vegtables and drink nothing but water for 8 weeks (i think it was 8 weeks). ANyway, she tried that and she said she got on the bus one day and a bloke sat down next to her and smelt of garlic and she started to panic thinking she would get ill, but she said nothing happened... then a few days later, she tried a slice of pizza with a touch of garlic sauce and again nothing happened. then she tried garlic and nothing happened - she was cured!!! True story. |
